Role Synopsis A Plant Engineer is needed at the Baker Hughes Fluids and Chemicals Blend Plant to handle process improvement and capital project engineering. This role will report directly to the Blend Plant Manager and indirectly to the Supply Chain Engineering Manager and work closely with the plant operators to improve plant operations. The individual will be a significant contributor on the Plant Management Team, and be ready and willing to contribute ideas and solutions to problems faced throughout the facility. They will be exposed to multiple facets of the business. The ability to multi-task and focus on a variety of projects simultaneously is critical, as is a high energy level and enthusiasm for "making things right" and finding innovative ways to solve problems and improve processes. The ideal candidate will be a leader and example for other members of the leadership team. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities · Demonstrates commitment to the BHI Core Values: Integrity, Teamwork, Performance and Learning. · Drive on-sight PSM activities, supporting Mechanical Integrity programs, initiatives and certification, design and engineering modifications, and associated documentation. · Must be familiar with PSM requirements and able to lead PHAs, execute MOCs, and perform Hazard Reviews and start-up / shut-down activities. · Vendor Management and Selection, relating to capital projects and daily support functions. · Lead and participate in Root Cause Investigations for HSE, Quality, and Production issues. · Assist with all aspects of Capital projects: Concept, design, execution and implementation. · On call as needed as a resource to trouble shoot processes and production issues. · Support product and process quality initiatives. · Plan and conduct research to recommend and implement continuous improvements in the production process. · Perform/Develop heat and material balances, operating procedures, P&ID reviews and updates, operator training, and batch tickets. · Candidate should have the ability to execute design calculations and analysis, as required. · Develop and implement production methods. Recommend and implement improvements in the production process. · Under general supervision, plans, conducts and supervises assignments. Reviews progress and evaluates results. · Reviews progress with team/project leader. Handles special projects, as assigned. · Thorough knowledge of principles, concepts, theories, and practices of chemical engineering and chemical plant operations. · Demonstrated effective leadership skills. Advanced problem-solving skills. · Significantly contribute to plant Lean and Six Sigma initiatives by providing engineering support and leadership to improvement projects. Basic Qualifications · Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required + 3 years' experience or Master`s Degree in Engineering. · Advanced analytical abilities and problem-solving skills. · Able to work with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. · Working knowledge of Process Safety Management as defined in 29 CFR 1910.119. · Strong Interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. - AutoCAD drafting skills desirable
· Experience with capital project management. · Knowledge of Lean and/or Lean Six Sigma principles is desirable. · Chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
