ION Geophysical Corporation is a leading global provider of image driven seismic solutions with international geophysical data processing centers located all over the world. The company's solutions incorporate a comprehensive toolkit that enables seismic acquisition contractors and oil & gas companies to design and implement successful 2D, 3D, 4D and full-wave land and marine seismic imaging surveys anywhere in the world.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for Land Processing Geophysicist positions located in Denver, Colorado, USA and Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Positions are also available at other ION processing centers around the world, including: Houston, TX, USA, Egham, Surrey, UK, New Delhi, India, and Cairo, Egypt.
As a Processing Geophysicist, you will:
• Perform all aspects of 2D and 3D seismic processing
• This is a high energy, fast paced environment
• Activities will range from routine to very complex, requiring a high degree of judgment and initiative
• Learn processing methods and advanced processing modules
• Attend pre-job meetings with the ION team and client to determine processing strategy and desired outputs
• Present processing results in Peer Review Meetings
• Load seismic data, geometry and refraction statics into database
• Process 2D and 3D surveys to agreed upon specifications
• Send out weekly updates and progress reports to clients and the team
• Prepare for and present work at intermediate Client QC Meetings
• Output volumes and displays for the Integrators and Geophysicists as needed for their work
• Complete all stages of the process in a timely manner
• Manage multiple jobs at once
• Write intermediate and final products to tape or CD
• Create labels and transmittals for shipping data to clients
• Work closely with the client and geophysicists to assist in suggesting additional work
Required skills and qualifications:
• At least 5 years of experience as a production seismic data processor
• Significant land processing experience
• Bachelors degree in Earth Science, Physics, or Mathematics; Geophysics degree preferred
• Experience with Landmark's ProMAX processing system is a plus
• Open and collaborative attitude towards working in a team of geoscientists
• Strong computer skills including Unix, Windows and Linux high performance computing environments
• Good communication skills both verbal and written with ability to interact professionally with all levels of management
• Outstanding time management and organizational skills
• Extremely detail oriented
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects and prioritize tasks
• Self-starter with good analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong administrative skills, with ability to anticipate and resolve problems on own initiative and escalate issues appropriately
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Must be positive, a strong team player and willing to take initiative
