Job Description:
ION Geophysical Corporation is a leading global provider of image driven seismic solutions with international geophysical data processing centers located all over the world. The company's solutions incorporate a comprehensive toolkit that enables seismic acquisition contractors and oil & gas companies to design and implement successful 2D, 3D, 4D and full-wave land and marine seismic imaging surveys anywhere in the world.

We are taking on the industry's toughest challenges and pursuing several new initiatives in and around -- Challenging Environments, Complex Geologies, Unconventional Reservoirs, Basin Exploration, and Reservoir Exploitation.

In support of these new initiatives, we are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Rock Physics Specialist to function as part of an integrated team working on ResSCAN projects.

This position is located in Houston, Texas.

Job Responsibilities:  

    • Responsible for Rock Physics analysis in support of Reservoir Characterization projects
    • Responsible for Rock Physics analysis in support of ResSCAN projects
    • Responsible for integration of seismic data, attributes and rock physics analysis
    • Responsible for generating and/or QC of seismic inversions for Reservoir Characterization
    • Interface with Rock Physics R&D

Requirements:  

    • Master's degree required in Geophysics, Physics, Geology, Mathematics, or related
    • 5 to 10 years of land/marine seismic experience
    • Hands on experience with 2D and 3D seismic data and seismic inversions of these data
    • Hands on experience with seismic interpretation
    • Hands on knowledge of rock physics analysis
    • Hands on knowledge of AVO/AVA analysis and quantitative interpretation
    • Hands on knowledge of seismic attribute analysis and its application to reservoir characterization
    • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to interact and present in client meetings
    • Ability to lead others in a team environment to accomplish project goals
    • Good working knowledge of Geological fundamental processes, especially for passive margins
    • Working knowledge of petrophysical data analysis
