It is the responsibility of the Rotating Equipment Engineer to direct and supervise the engineering and management service contractor throughout the design execution beginning with conceptual design. The Rotating Equipment Engineer also oversees procurement and the construction activities of the later stages to ensure that timing, cost and quality standards are all being met sufficiently. The Rotating Equipment Engineer provides technical input, according to the requirements of the projects, into technical studies and the basis for design of onshore and offshore processing and production facilities. . It is also the responsibility of the Rotating Equipment Engineer to ensure that the transfer of data and information among contractors and the company is smooth. The Rotating Equipment Engineer has the responsibility of identifying and assessing all new technology and the systems to allow for sour gas compression and injection for large-scale upstream development. In addition, the Rotating Equipment Engineer must also lead the adoption, identification or creation of engineering standards for extensive rotating equipment and machinery packages, including turbine or electric motor driven compressors, generators and pumps, according to national customs and standards. Rotating Equipment Engineers advise on rotating equipment availability, sparing philosophies and standardization. The Rotating Equipment Engineer must also assess the limitations and capabilities of industrial infrastructure and incorporation into the planning for development as well as in the process of risk mitigation. Rotating Equipment Engineers are also expected to participate in process safety management.
