Job Purpose and Scope:
The Island ERD Completions and Workover Engineering Specialist will act as the technical champion to guide and assist the drilling and completion engineers in the design and process of implementing ERD completion, workover and stimulation technology for the Island ERD project.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Provides completion and workover engineering guidance and assistance to ensure the proper application of best practices and technology for ERD wells, and to assure technical excellence in well completion and workover engineering design, including well integrity. The ERD Specialties will have experience and expertise in the following technical areas, but not limited to the following:
o Advanced stimulation techniques using acid and hydraulic fracturing in ERD wells
o Production modeling using recognized industry software, including ERD well modeling
o A full knowledge of production logging technology and techniques in ERD wells
o Experience and technical knowledge of tractor techniques to convey coil tubing and wireline in ERD wells, including high angle wireline intervention for plug & GLV setting
o An understanding of smart completions and their design and installation
o Experience and understanding of multilateral technology and its optimization
o An understanding of inflow control devices and swell-able technologies and how to model
o Experience and comprehensive knowledge in technologies and operations related to completions and workovers in ERD wells, including but not limited to, de-completion, well killing, completions fluids, fishing & plug setting, completion equipment design and specification for life of well, tree and wellhead design, perforating, and well testing.
• Ensures that Company HSE policies, procedures, regulations and objectives are effectively implemented.
• Liaison with Shareholder's ERD completion and workover experts as required.
• Responsible for ensuring ERD operation manuals and standard procedures are maintained and kept up-to-date with relevant best practices.
• Preparation of ERD completion and workover programs including well completion design, completion fluids, tubing movement calculations and stress analysis, etc. with particular focus on extended-reach wells.
• Produces ERD completion and workover programs and operating procedures.
• Liaises with well operations HSE advisors on all completions & workover related HSE issues(HSE reviews, HSE training, contractor HSE alignment).
• Designs completion & workover engineering activities that are fully aligned with Company's Well Delivery Process (WDP).
• Contributes the completion & workover engineering elements of the Well Operations Scorecard, performance targets (KPI's) and objectives and shares responsibility of meeting these targets
• Reviews ERD completion and workover programs and operating procedures and technically supports the execution of each program by the operations team.
• Coordinates and supervises complex ERD completion and stimulation engineering studies.
• Relieves the Island ERD Completions and Workover Engineering Team Leader, as needed.
• Evaluates ERD completion software capabilities and makes recommendations accordingly
• Participates in industry organizations such as SPE, API and / or IADC.
Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):
• Participates along with Island ERD Completions and Workover Engineer in meetings held with other disciplines as part of the well delivery process.
• Contact with other Well Operations Sections and Groups (Teams), principally the Drilling and Completions Operations and technology Sections, on a daily basis to ensure sound technical solutions are achieved.
• Contact and interface with Service Companies when necessary.
Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority:
• Provides technical advice in critical design and operational activities.
• Decides priorities, bring in new ideas and technology and provide expertise in the functional area to achieve required performance standards.
Minimum Requirements:
• Degree in relevant Engineering discipline such as Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum ten years experience and knowledge of drilling and completion & workover engineering functions.
• Minimum five years experience in work related to completion and workover activities for extended-reach wells (Desired).
• Computing skills including MS Office
• Knowledge of drilling and completion software applications
• Prior work experience as Team Leader (Desired)
• Leadership and safety training
• Same base skills as Completions and Workovers Engineer
