Job Purpose and Scope:
The Island ERD Completions and Workover Engineer is responsible for the timely design, preparation and implementation of each ERD well completion, workover, and stimulation program on the artificial islands. Responsibilities also include special projects related to island operations.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Prepares full ERD completion, workover and stimulation programs. Works closely with other groups to assure the programs are based on all available information from nearby wells. The ERD completion, workover and stimulation programs must include, but are not limited to the following:
o Application of standard operations procedures, best ERD practices and lessons learned.
o Progress time and cost charts for the Completion or Workover phase
o De-completion program (well killing, tubing and packer pulling, plug setting) for workover
o Christmas tree, tubing and downhole completion equipment to meet expected conditions and well integrity requires for the Islands
o Coiled tubing applications and mitigations, including tractors, specifically for ERD wells
o Stimulation program in combination with the ERD Coil Tubing applications
o Completions fluids program
o Well testing program compatible with the Island design and requirements
o Well evaluation program, including wireline logging in ERD wells with tractors
o Perforating program on tubing as per ERD requirements
o ICD sizing and placing program
• Ensures that Company HSE policies, procedures, regulations and objectives are effectively implemented.
• Prepares cost estimates and AFE's for completions and workovers.
• Participates as completion and workover representative in the Well Delivery Process (WDP)
• Interacts with asset teams during ERD well planning, execution and post-completion & workover reviews.
• Provides technical support to Island wellwork execution team during wellwork operations and participates in morning teleconferences with the rig and prepares and presents operations summaries.
• Provides rig site technical assistance to the ERD Completion and Workover Supervisors during critical operations, as required
• Trouble shoots operational and technical completion and workover problems.
• Supervises make-up & testing of completion sub-assemblies in coordination with all concerned parties.
• Conducts follow-up assessments of completion equipment selection and application.
• Provides annual completion equipment and materials technical specifications & quantity requirements as requested.
• Maintains close liaison with services companies' engineers, and keeps abreast of recent developments in the area of well completion technology, equipment, practices, etc. Conducts studies on adaptability of such technology to Company ERD operations and makes appropriate recommendations.
• Analyzes completion or workover performance and recommends changes in procedures and equipment based on findings.
• Participates in industry organizations such as SPE, API and/or IADC.
Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):
• Participates in meetings with other disciplines as part of the well delivery process.
• Contact with other Well Operations Sections and Groups (Teams), principally the Drilling and Completions Operations
Section, on a daily basis to ensure provision of completion and workover programs and cost estimates.
• Contact and interface with Service Companies when necessary.
Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority:
• Responsible for ensuring ERD completion and programs and cost estimates are provided in a timely manner.
• Decides priorities, bring in new ideas and technology and provide expertise in the function area to achieve required performance standards.
Minimum Requirements:
• Degree in relevant Engineering discipline such as Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum five years experience and knowledge of completion and workover engineering functions.
• Minimum three years experience in ERD work related to completion and workover activities (Desired)
• Computing skills including MS Office
• Knowledge of Drilling Information Management System (DIMS)
• Safety training
• Subsurface Engineering School or completions seminars (Completions and Workovers)
• Skills including:
o Same base skills as Island Drilling ERD Engineer (Desired)
o Tubing Design including movement calculations
o Basic Completion Fluids Technology
o Basic Cementing Technology
o Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient Technology
o Well Control Equipment and Procedures
o Blowout Prevention Equipment and Testing
o Tubular Goods Inspection
o Completion and Workover Equipment Technology
o Open hole and Cased Hole Logging
o Directional Drilling
o Coil Tubing Technology in ERD wells
