Targa Resources (Targa) is a leading provider of midstream natural gas and NGL services in the United States. We own and operate approximately 12,090 miles of natural gas and NGL pipelines, with natural gas gathering systems covering approximately 14,400 square miles and 21 natural gas processing plants located primarily in the Permian Basin, Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana regions.

Targa Resources Corp has an immediate opening for an Environmental Specialist to specialize in Federal and State air quality regulations such as permitting, regulatory applicability, and overall air compliance support. This position is located at the Houston Corporate Office and will report to the Environmental Manager.

Job Responsibilities

    • Title V and New Source Review Permits - complete air permitting projects for new and modified oil and gas facilities.
    • Regulatory Analysis - complete regulatory analysis for projects to determine how a rule applies to new and modified oil and gas facilities.
    • Assist with any state or special Emissions Inventories.
    • Provide assistance in resolving issues concerning environmental compliance through research and conferring with appropriate Technical Services personnel.
    • Assist with compliance audits, as needed.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of existing and proposed regulations that affect the oil and gas operations through training classes, lunch and learn, and conference attendance.

Minimum Essential Qualifications

    • B.S. in Engineering, or related science such as Chemistry, Physics, or Biology.
    • 3+ years of experience in air permitting.
    • Technical writing skills as demonstrated through a writing sample.
    • Intermediate level desktop computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
    • Physical ability to work out in the plant site and accompany regulators on plant tours.
    • Fluent English verbal and written skills.
    • Ability to travel periodically away from Houston, overnight. No more than 4 times per year required.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in a manufacturing or consulting environment through previous work, co-op, or internship.
    • Related work experience with permitting and regulations in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
    • Ability to be flexible and manage change.
    • Ability to organize and work self sufficiently given direction and resources.
    • Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside the company (regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants).
