Job Description:
OBJECTIVE:

Under general direction, this is a ''hands-on'' professional position that serves as a resource for management and laborers of land based drilling rigs.  The position requires continuous implementation and support of company expectations to protect employee health, safety, and the environment.

JOB DUTIES include but are not limited to the following:

    • Injury prevention
    • Communicate and train company expectations; as well as, local, state, or federal regulations/laws.
    • Coach employees to better understand how to work injury free by using soft skills; such as, observations, interventions, job safety analysis, safety meeting facilitation, and demonstrating proper body positioning and work techniques.
    • Mentor employees by demonstrating and supporting company expectations; as well as, local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Support Drilling Operations as a resource for compliance and safety solutions.
    • Assist in development and implementation of company safety programs.
    • Monitor pro-active measures during routine field visits.
    • Be a liaison between employees, treatment facilities, and the company during injury case management.
    • Facilitate root cause analysis meetings.
    • Conduct incident investigation interviews.
    • Facilitate and assist any regulatory agency (i.e. OSHA, DEQ, etc) during routine visits, audits, or inspections of any company controlled facility.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE:

    • Proficient knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations/laws, such as OSHA, DEQ, BLM, EPA, DOL, etc.
    • The ability to effectively communicate with others without evoking defensiveness, anger, or discontent.
    • Proficient skills regarding applicable computer systems and software to include but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Explorer, and Power Point.
    • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, demonstrate initiative, and meet deadlines.

CORE COMPETENCY:

    • Ability to analyze complex and diverse information, collect and research data, utilize intuition and experience to compile and create logical conclusions.
    • Problem solving skills, ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, research and organize information to develop alternative solutions.
    • Strong situational leadership skills, ability to communicate with others in an effective manner, react well under pressure and treat others with respect, dignity, and consideration.
    • Acclimate to company identity, ability to represent the company with poise and integrity, use situational awareness and communication skills to properly address the present audience.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

    • A Safety Professional certification or similar industry designation, accredited degree in health, safety, and environment, or similar related field, OR 3+ years of working experience in health, safety, and environment within the oil and gas industry.
