BASIC PURPOSE:
Design of tooling and Fixturing to support manufacturing effort
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Developing new tooling and fixturing methods, building innovative fixturing and revamping tooling standards to reduce production costs
2. Investigate sources for tooling and fixturing, tool fabrication, and machine parts to complete tooling requirements.
3. Thorough understanding of sound machining principles, with experience implementing CNC machining operations, including machine tool acquisition, tooling, fixturing, and programming
4. Develop CAD drawings of standard tooling and fixturing drawings
5. Product layouts, drawings, and sketches necessary for equipment installations and modifications.
6. Revise CAD drawings to reflect changes made necessary by fabrication limitations, machine Debugging, product changes, and alternate machine adaptations
7. Maintain accuracy of CAD tooling drawings and department records by insuring that all changes are documented and recorded on a timely basis.
8. Provide assistance to manufacturing as required to resolve problems.
9. Assists in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies
10. Proficient in PRO-E design software preferred
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Has a variety of contacts with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality Assurance. Interface with vendors and contractors, and other Schlumberger divisions.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum Bachelor Degree in Engineering required.
Six years experience in design of machine tools preferred.
Must be able to communicate effectively both written and oral.
PE Certification preferred.
