PURPOSE
As a member of the Planning & Business Development Team, the North American Shale Planning Analyst has primary responsibility for implementing, leading, and conducting optimization of NA Shale Planning through the administration and use of the NA Shale planning optimization software.
In addition, this person will support the NA Shale Division Planner in implementation of and compliance to the Corporate Alignment Planning (CAP) process; development, delivery, and optimization of the NA Shale Performance Management Framework; meeting management requests and key other deliverables.
The incumbent will provide consistent, high-quality support essential to achieving the goals and objectives of the team, the Division, and the Petroleum CSG.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Lead and conduct optimization of NA Shale Planning opportunities through the implementation, administration, and use of the NA Shale planning optimization software to support the business needs and meet the requirements of the Corporate Alignment and Planning (CAP) process.
• Support the NA Shale Division Planner in development, delivery, and optimization of the NA Shale Performance Management Framework.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administrator and owner of new North American Shale planning optimization software and processes:
- Ensure master data used is controlled and up to date with latest views of PU teams to ensure accurate forecasts generated
- Develop business plans optimized based on constraints and key planning principles (i.e. NPV, IRR, EBIT, contractual commitments, etc)
- Provide range analysis and scenario results to support management decisions on pace of development by field
• Support the Corporate Alignment Planning (CAP) process within North American Shale:
- Under the direction of the NA Shale Division Planner, work with the NA Shale PU Planners and other employees of the organization to support the Planning effort within Petroleum (data collection, analysis, and reporting; preparation of presentation materials, QA/QC, etc.)
- Utilize the planning optimization software to streamline CAP process requirements and minimize impact on NA Shale PU's
• Support development, delivery, execution, and optimization of the NA Shale Performance Management Framework:
- Engage with key stakeholders to ensure framework meets their needs and expectations
- Coordinate quarterly performance management meetings (scheduling, meeting logistics, action tracking, etc)
- Drive continuous improvement in process and framework through time as business needs and drivers change
• Support the NA Shale MFOR and Production Reporting process (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) from time to time, as required
• Actively support other initiatives and activities within the Planning & Business Development team and the NA Shale Division Planner as needed.
• Preparation and delivery of presentations for Executive Managers with ability to identify and articulate key messages
REQUIREMENTS

- Interface regularly with the Planning Manager, Division Planners, PU Planners, and various team members within the Divisions and Functions
- Promote and drive change to improve the planning and performance management processes
• Align numerous stakeholders and ensure that guidelines and timelines are honored.
• Work as part of an integrated Planning team to deliver best practice results.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
• A bachelor's degree in finance/business or engineering required with a strong preference for an engineering background
• 2-5 years experience in the upstream petroleum industry required
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with and influence both management and multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience & Technical Competencies
• Minimum 5 years experience in upstream petroleum industry required, with preference given to persons with onshore US experience
• A bachelor's degree in finance/business or engineering required with a strong preference for an engineering background
• Very strong analytical skills, able to deconstruct analytical problems and provide solutions across a wide range of issues.
