Job Description:
Sr. Drilling Engineer - Houston, TX

Proven successful small, private independent with a track record of success in Acquire/Exploit or  Greenfield development projects including recent success in developing a significant Bakken Shale portfolio is seeking a technically adept, yet highly entrepreneurially geared drilling engineer to help grow their onshore Texas-Eagle Ford and other acreage positions onshore U.S.  Significant opportunity to not only have a major say and influence in drilling and completions design and execution, but a significant wealth creation opportunity in terms of equity stake for profitably growing and executing a successful property drilling and development program.

Function

Sr. Drilling Engineer manages the design, preparation, and planning of well programs for multi-rig/multi-well projects to ensure that execution at the wellsite is done in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.

Reports to VP of Operations and President of Company.

Responsibilities

QHSE - including office and wellsite safety meetings, plans HSE audits of equipment/field practices, at minimum follows state regulatory requirements and communicates all incidents immediately to President.


Planning & Controls - Forecast & plan medium and long term resources.  Writes AFE's needed in equipment, supplies and services to meet program needs.  Perform daily monitoring/follow up actual vs. plan, anticipate operational changes/needs and revises plans to ensure continual progress and successful operations.

Operations-Well planning/construction of wells, execute safe and effective wells, cost monitoring, select services/companies, and ensures proper and effective communications both inter-office and with field including normal daily morning meetings.

Administrative-Evaluate goals vs. service co. performance, ensure operations are planned and executed in a cost effective manner, monitor cost and technical performance, initiate engineering and operational corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement and assist in corporate appraisal process with quarterly performance interviews

Qualifications for Success

BS in Engineering (prefer Petroleum) with 5 to10+ years of progressive successful, effective oil and gas operating company well planning and technical and cost effective success in drilling onshore oil and gas wells.  High preference to candidates with experience in drilling U.S. onshore horizontal, multi-stage-fractured wells.
