Job Description:
Position in Houma, LA

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    • Produces detailed design models and drawings of product improvements/upgrades using 3D modeling software.  
    • Professionally interacts with drafting staff to approve and supply engineering drawings to manufacturing facilities and operations districts.  
    • Capable of providing design calculations and conduct FEA to support/verify design requirements.  
    • Responsible for reviewing and approving ECR/Ns as required.
    • Efficiently completes assigned engineering projects and acts as the lead in all phases of each project: conceptual design, detailed design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing including documentation and commercialization.  
    • Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of engineering projects.
    • Supports quality assurance personnel by effectively reviewing products for failure prevention/mitigation and can oversee all aspects of failure investigations including the initial evaluation, root cause analysis, and can recommend courses of action to necessary personnel though technical bulletins, product alerts, etc.
    • Supports production/manufacturing, supply chain, and fleet management personnel in various engineering capacities including review of NCRs, approval of raw materials prior to manufacturing, evaluating material test data.  
    • Familiar with the capabilities and limitations of various NDE processes used in oil service industry.
    • Capable of generating material and process specifications as part of the design process.
    • Material specifications include various non-ferrous and ferrous metallic alloys, as well as elastomeric, polymer, and thermoplastic blends.
    • Process specifications include welding, heat treating, surface conversion, coating, and various inspection processes.
    • Responsible for laboratory and field testing of new and existing products as necessary for field validation.
    • Interacts with operations/sales personnel to review customer requirements.  
    • Evaluates customer requirements and can effectively recommend potential solutions through written feedback.
    • Familiar with hydraulic control systems and capable of designing, troubleshooting, and establishing working hydraulic systems.
    • Follows new product development process with appropriate communications and approvals
    • Conducts system reviews on product assemblies, equipment procedures, worker proficiency and competency, and supply chain accuracy as it applies to operational demands. Serves as the senior reviewer of all fleet equipment Quality Books in written format and electronic files.
    • Conducts formal training sessions to educate staff and employees on engineering issues that need cooperative mitigation efforts.
    • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  
    • Performs a variety of complicated technical tasks and may direct and lead the work of others, particularly of drafting personnel and less experienced engineering personnel.  

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:

    • Possesses a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited US institution.  
    • Other technical degrees will be considered based on work experience.
    • 5 - 8 Years experience preferred.

Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate Required:  

    • Is an energetic individual with specialized areas of concentration in the engineering field and possess advance knowledge of engineering software and programs dedicated to equipment standardization and design reliability.
    • Displays continual engineering growth and educates team on a common level.
    • Communicates very well throughout the company with relationship to Operations, Supply Chain, QA and management, his/her most desirable characteristic is "Cool under Fire".
    • Able to apply common sense, as well as, a technical understanding to solve problems and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
