Principal Geophysicist, based Hampshire , UK Gaffney, Cline & Associates has an immediate opening for a Principal Geophysicist Gaffney, Cline & Associates (GCA) is an international advisory firm focused on providing integrated technical and managerial services to all sectors of the oil and gas industry. For nearly 50 years GCA has provided both broad-based and detailed advice resulting in solutions-orientated, commercially viable and practical results designed to meet our client's specific requirements. GCA advises a wide range of clients in exploration, reservoir evaluation, field development and optimisation, drilling and production, pipeline, refining and LNG projects throughout the world. GCA has principal offices in London, Houston and Singapore as well as smaller offices in Buenos Aires, Moscow, Almaty and Sydney. Responsibilities:
- Undertake geophysical interpretation and analysis using appropriate techniques and technologies to provide world class solutions for the client.
- Provide geophysical input to multi-disciplinary projects, including resource evaluations, unitisation and redetermination assessments, and field development studies.
- Construct and audit reservoir geomodels for assets with varying data availability, from frontier exploration and new field developments to mature producing assets.
- Present data, interpretation and reports to clients either individually or as part of the larger project team.
- Advise clients on geoscience matters, often at a senior level.
- Act as Project Manager on some projects, maintaining frequent contact with the client and ensuring adherence to timescales and budgets.
- Provide geoscience support and advice to colleagues.
- Mentor the development of less experienced geoscience colleagues.
- Assist the business development team.
- Attend conferences and forums and serve as an ambassador for GCA.
Skill Requirements:
- Geophysicist with a broad range of experience gained from working for an Operator in many of the following areas: frontier exploration, appraisal, field development planning and mature field redevelopment.
- Advanced seismic interpretation skills (preferably using Landmark, Geoframe or Kingdom software).
- Sound understanding of seismic attribute analysis and the application of such techniques to prospect risk assessment and reservoir characterisation.
- Extensive experience of depth conversion methodologies and workflows.
- Although seismic processing is not be part of GCA's business stream the applicant will be expected to be conversant with industry standard seismic processing techniques and able to give guidance to clients and colleagues on such matters.
- Ability to work independently, and deliver as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of all aspects of petroleum geosciences, including reservoir modeling, petrophysical analysis and reservoir engineering principles.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Capable of travel flexibility.
Education: · Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Geoscience or equivalent. · Currently seeking candidates for multiple opportunities varying in experience.
