Senior Geophysicist, based Hampshire, UK

Gaffney, Cline & Associates has an immediate opening for a Senior Geophysicist

Gaffney, Cline & Associates (GCA) is an international advisory firm focused on providing integrated technical and managerial services to all sectors of the oil and gas industry. For nearly 50 years GCA has provided both broad-based and detailed advice resulting in solutions-orientated, commercially viable and practical results designed to meet our client's specific requirements. GCA advises a wide range of clients in exploration, reservoir evaluation, field development and optimisation, drilling and production, pipeline, refining and LNG projects throughout the world. GCA has principal offices in London, Houston and Singapore as well as smaller offices in Buenos Aires, Moscow, Almaty and Sydney.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide geophysical input to multi-disciplinary projects, from frontier exploration through discovery appraisal to field development and production.
  • Perform 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and analysis using appropriate, state-of-the-art techniques to provide Best In Class solutions for the client.
  • Present data, interpretations, and report to clients either individually or as part of the larger project team.
  • Advise clients on geophysical matters and provides solutions.
  • May manage large multi-disciplinary project teams and/or multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Handle special projects, as assigned.
  • Attend conferences and forums and serve as an ambassador for GCA.

Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent problem solving skills with a drive for results.
  • Must be action oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong client focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of multi-disciplined teams working with an extensive client base.
  • Must be highly motivated with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of Geophysics and Geosciences sub-areas.
  • Familiar with multi-discipline functions.
  • Advanced understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, petroleum geology, geophysics, geophysical mapping, and 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and subsurface mapping techniques.
  • Experience in integrating seismic stratigraphic frameworks with sequence stratigraphy from well data.
  • Advanced written and verbal skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Good organizing, planning, and presentation skills.
  • Sound ability to manage time, make quality decisions, and manage and measure work.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education:

  • Degree in Geology/Geoscience or equivalent
  • Currently seeking candidates for multiple opportunities with varying levels of experience
