Job Description:
|
We are looking to hire an Lead O&G Structural Engineer for a major project in Nigeria. This is an excellent long-term opportunity which will be based out of Western Africa for 3+ years.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all structural aspects of design and construction of the topsides equipment modules, the flare boom, buildings, other structural components, and for the structural support interfaces with the hull.
• Provide engineering technical oversight, support, and guidance to the FEED and Detailed Engineering contractor performing the topsides structural analysis (including strength, spectral fatigue, etc), design, and drawings.
• Analysis should include thorough evaluation of load conditions imposed during module or package construction, lifting and installation, transportation, and for FPSO motions and accelerations during the 100 year metocean conditions.
• Ensure topsides equipment module platforms and other structures are, designed, analyzed and fabricated in accordance with company's technical requirements and specifications.
• Ensure that the engineering contractor's structural designs can accommodate various module and package loading conditions imposed during construction, lifting and installation, transportation, and for FPSO motions and accelerations expected during 100 year metocean conditions.
• Modules will also need to be checked for the "out of level" spatial conditions that could be imposed on modules if the FPSO hull were severely damaged.
• Oversee engineering contractor's efforts to perform topsides structural analysis, drawing preparation, weight control, cost and construction schedule estimating, EPC bid preparation and all other structural design activities during Feed and Phase 4 Detailed Design.
• Respond to contractor RFI's and provide technical guidance and input in a timely fashion
• During FEED, work with select EPCI bidders to perform preliminary constructability analysis for topsides. This effort will continue into detailed engineering.
• Participate in topsides structural specification preparations, qualification of FEED/EPCI Contractors, development, review and evaluation of the EPCI tender packages, design reviews, quality control planning, monitoring of weight control report and all activities required to support successful topsides structural design, fabrication, integration with topsides and turret, transport and installation.
• Proactively monitor weight, cost, schedule, and quality performance during module and structural component design and fabrication.
• Ensure that developing problems are quickly identified and appropriately addressed to avoid negative project impact.
• Provide technical support during the FPSO fabrication and installation transport and commissioning
• Provide structural discipline input and support for various multi-discipline deliverables, such as FEED cost estimates and schedule preparation, IPA benchmarking assessment preparation, Value Improving Practices workshops, PEER Reviews, etc.
• Ensure all appropriate structural design and fabrication data and documentation is captured and turned over to the CUE business unit prior to start up.
Requirements Essentials:
• Eligible to work for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship
• 10+ years experience.
• Extensive experience with structural engineering design, structural modeling, constructability analysis, drawing preparation, construction supervision, etc. for large offshore structures, modules and decks supporting upstream production facilities.
• Experience working effectively with FEED, detailed engineering contractors and fabrication yards desirable.
• Experience working with large, multi-discipline project teams.
• Requires a layman's level of knowledge for other disciplines involved in the design of the offshore facilities.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with multi-functional teams and FEED and Detailed Engineering contractors to ensure engineering and stakeholder interfaces are properly managed.
• Knowledge and understanding of specific codes, and industry standards and practices applicable to the design, fabrication, construction, inspection, and quality assurance of structural construction on FPSO topsides is required.
• Expert in civil engineering and structural design of offshore producing facilities.
• Works proactively to ensure cross discipline engineering interface points are properly managed to ensure a fully integrated and seamless project design.
• Experience designing topsides for FPSO, working with naval architects at the topsides and hull interface is highly desirable.
• Offshore work experience required
• Knowledge of pressure vessel design software is a plus. Fluent written & spoken English.
• Must be willing to live in Africa for extended periods (6+ months).
