 Job Description:
Strategic delivery for Alaska requires material progression of its resources in order to create a long-term and sustainable business. Those resources are substantial across a continuum of viscosity that ranges from gas, through light oil to viscous oil and heavy oil. Viscous and heavy oil total 33 billion bbls gross STOOIP (about 17 net). Contingent resources in Alaska total 2 billion barrels (net) and are spread across the Milne Point, Kuparuk and Prudhoe Bay units. This significant resource is deliverable with extensions of technologies already commercially employed in Canada and Venezuela.
The RE will be a member of the Renewal Team (Alaska Resource Function) and a key part of a multi-disciplinary heavy oil team. The role is critical for execution and delivery of the BP Alaska Viscous and Heavy Oil Resource Appraisal Plan (RAP).
This is a unique opportunity within BP to be a part of the Alaska Heavy Oil team - as it is currently the only asset in BP's global portfolio piloting the CHOPS (cold heavy oil production with sand) process. Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent subsurface engineering discipline)
- Minimum 10 years oil & gas industry experience as a RE or PE with at least 3 of those years working with heavy oil assets.- Comprehensive knowledge of primary heavy oil recovery extraction techniques
