JOB TITLE: U.S. LAND REGION SALES ENGINEER - DRILL BITS
LOCATION: HOUSTON, TEXAS
US Land Drill Bits product line is the leader in Tricone™ and PDC drill bit, ream-while-drilling and casing drilling technology. Our application and design engineers work with customers to provide the best drill bit for the application to continuously improve drilling performance.
ROLE SYNOPSIS
Under broad direction provides highly skilled level sales support and product application recommendations on drill bits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for providing sales support and product application recommendations
- Coordinates with Area Engineering teams to implement Area specific product strategies and best practices
- Provides technical guidance and presentations to customers relating to product performance and new drill bit technology
- Will investigate unusual or unsatisfactory product performance to determine root cause and preventative actions
- Performs customer technical presentations
- Qualifies customer for Drilling Optimization and Application Engineering projects and coordinates efforts
- Provides technical consultation to customers on product / performance issues
- Handles special projects, as assigned
- Conducts all business activities in accordance to Baker Hughes HSE policies, Legal Compliance requirements and Baker Hughes Core Values.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years drill bit experience or 5+ years experience in related field
- Previous experience in sales or account management or similar client-facing role required
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- This initiative driven, problem solver should be willing to increase their knowledge base in drill bit and drilling systems applications within the oilfield industry.
- Strong interpersonal and sales skills
- Strong knowledge in oilfield operations, rig site operations, drilling technology, and drill bit application.
- Knowledge of drilling application programs (WellCad, Rocky, etc.)
- Individual must be proficient in computer based programs related to application of drill bit products to include MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Possess a high level of initiative to work independently to solve drilling problems of customers relating to drill bit design, BHA (bottom hole assembly), and hydraulics optimization.
- Good communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills a must for this highly dynamic environment.
OTHER DETAILS
- Position requires person to be on call 24/7 to answer questions/ troubleshoot as needed
- May require travel within U.S. Land Region, some overnight travel to be expected
- May work in the dirt/rig sites; wearing PPE/HSE attire
