Role Synopsis
Maintain and ensure maximum operating efficiency of all equipment and machinery in accordance with departmental safety policies, procedures and standards in order to meet production schedules and desired quality levels. Supervise and maintain the work of the maintenance technicians.
Key Accountabilities (includes, but not limited to the following)
• ''Hands-on'' and actively participates in maintenance mechanic activities to ensure goals are met for the company and department.
• Utilizes independent judgment to determine ways to maximize production potential.
• Interface closely with other departments to ensure projects involving Maintenance are defined accurately and executed effectively.
• Schedules and coordinates work orders for corrective actions, projects, preventive maintenance and contractors.
• Carries out responsibilities and balances priorities to meet company objectives and comply with company policies on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
• Manage work schedules and directly supervise maintenance technicians.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training maintenance employees; coach employees to improve their performance.
• Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment.
• Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
• Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
• Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems.
• Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
• Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
• Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
• Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
• Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
Working Environment
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
• The employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions.
• The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
• The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
• The employee may be exposed to extremely dusty environments.
• The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the process.

Qualifications
Education
Associates degree from two-year college in a related technical field or certificate or diploma from a trade school in related field and five years experience in the maintenance and/or operation of a manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
Essential
• Five plus years hydraulic, electrical and/or pneumatic maintenance mechanic experience.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Industrial Manufacturing / Assembly line experience.
• Must have expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
Preferred
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Mechanic experience with CNC machines.
• Mechanic experience with Lathe machinery (auto or manual).
• Certification in Hydraulics, Electrics or a related field is desired.
• Lean manufacturing methodology experience.
Physical Requirements
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• The employee must be able to climb ladders and work in high, precarious places up to elevations of 175 feet.
