Job Description:
Scope: To perform and supervise the design, documentation, testing, application, and use in projects in a professional, competent, efficient, and cost effective manner.

Principal Accountabilities:

    • Establish and maintain a standard core Burner Boom product line of engineering designs and drawings
    • Provide project specific engineering support for integration of the Burner Booms to client's rig
    • Manage the execution of the projects
    • Provide heat radiation studies for clients
    • Review and update designs to meet latest international standards
    • Generate Burner Boom costing work sheet templates to Commercial group for quotation activity
    • Update and maintain the technical write-up on quotations integrating into SAP driven numbering system for Commercial group to use for quotes
    • Sales - Interpret technical aspects of quotations working with the Marketing group. Represent company in negotiations/meetings requiring technical/commercial support. Provide status of projects to sales personnel
    • Review contract/PO legal and commercial issues with Commercial group and Legal group for acceptance
    • Work with Commercial group to generate a BER for review and approval by company management
    • Be accountable for P&L of the Burner Boom product line within the guidelines by the Commercial group and Accounting group

Design:

    • Assure proper design procedures are being followed (Company, API, ASME, DNV, ABS, BV, and the Customer)
    • Provide clear, defined, project-specific work to Designer/Drafter department in generation of drawings and layout of new parts or products
    • Establish in-house structural/stress calculation programs for project specific design reviews and third party compliance requirements
    • Perform stress analysis of existing products for qualification or design files
    • Review and improve products from time to time to meet market requirements

Documentation:

    • Approval of design/drafting work and associated BOMS for parts and assemblies
    • Approve drawings
    • Prepare design reports for files and/or submittal to outside agencies such as DNV, ABS, API
    • Prepare design files for Company products
    • Write procedures for testing, assembly, work instructions, and engineering bulletins
    • Provide technical support for writing onsite installation, operation, and maintenance manuals

Testing:

    • Specify and/or perform verification and production testing of company products

Projects:

    • Perform project engineering and project management duties on sales orders
    • Review sales orders for technical requirements when required
    • Act as liaison to customer's engineers
    • Manage work performed by outside vendors with Project Supervisor
    • Provide engineering products in a timely manner to facilitate the project schedule

Product Line Maintenance:

    • Perform engineering for improvement and cost reduction of current Burner Boom products
    • Integrate ''state of the art technology'' across product lines
    • Be familiar with and implement Company engineering specifications
    • Manage the R&D projects, including water spray nozzle analysis and possible design
    • Perform duties in accordance with the company's (SO/API) quality system procedures and work instructions

Additional Duties (Provide Engineering Support To):

    • Purchasing - Define requirements for purchased parts. Answer technical questions from the Purchasing group and outside vendors
    • Inspection - Provide technical interpretation of drawings and specifications to Project Supervisor and Fabricators. Resolve non-conformities
    • Quality - Initiate or assist in resolving Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
    • Provide daily time sheets to relate hours worked to specific sales orders, quotation activity

Job Knowledge and Qualifications:

    • College degree, BSME or equivalent
    • 5-10 years' experience; 3 years' minimum experience in management role
    • Experience in design, layout, and development of mechanical/structural devices
    • Creativity and openness to new design concepts/technology
    • Project management and engineering skills required
    • Clear written, documentation, and verbal communication skills
    • Drafting skills including dimensions and tolerance of drawings, and knowledge of weld symbols
    • Computer skills to include: Microsoft Office Professional, AutoCad/SolidWorks, MathCad, as well as ability to use internet, email, and databases.
