Job Description:
Summary of Responsibilities

     Lead Manufacturing Engineering Department (including CNC programmers).
     Maintain efficient utilization of machinery and processes
     Lead the design/selection of cutting tools, fixtures and programs.
     Spec out new machine tools to meet goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     Define optimum operating parameters of machine tools and other manufacturing operations.
     Cutting tool selection and defining performance parameters of cutting tools.
     Creation and maintenance of CNC programs.
     Provide leadership and mentoring to programmers and manufacturing engineering personnel.
     Create, enhance, and maintain machining process instructions (routings) through effective interface with machinists.
     Define fixture requirements and specifications.
     Manage the cutting tools inventory and interact with tooling vendors.
     Liaison with the Engineering Department to determine best practices.
     Perform dimensional inspection of machined parts and work in process.
     Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

     Directly supervises employees in the CNC Programming and Manufacturing Engineering areas.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Experience

High school diploma required.  Prefer Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering degree and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training.   Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with similar materials and methods is required.  In depth knowledge of machine applications, interpretation of blue prints and experience in run time estimating also required. Lean/Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen training and application required.

Other Skills and Abilities

Able to work under moderate supervision in a manufacturing environment. Intermediate skills in MS Office products to include Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems. CAD/CAM and Solidworks experience preferred.
