This is a resident position in Sultanate of Oman, Middle East.
Only candidates interested and available to relocate to Oman and work from there are suitable for this position.
Tax Free salary paid in Oman + FSP + Housing Allowance + Schooling for children + medical insurance for self and family in Oman, etc. are included in the package.
Candidate should have previously worked in similar positions.
Position: DRILLING SUPERINTENDENT (DS)
Reports to : AREA MANAGER (AM)
Qualification
• Compliance with Company's certification requirement.
• Hold valid well control certification (IWCF) to supervisor level.
• Shall read, speak and write English language fluently.
• Have communication and training skills.
• Be familiar with and have experience in the implementation of HSE Management Systems.
Function:
• Supervise field operations and activities including, but not limited to, drilling operations, personnel planning, logistics, materials, spare parts and crew change.
• Control field and rig operating costs with respect to budget through planning and execution.
• Implement Company Policies in regard to Quality, Standards, Procedures, Safety, HSE, Operations, Maintenance and Human Resources.
• Coordinate operations activities and contractual matters with Client.
Safety Resposibilities:
The Drilling Superintendent must understand and execute all relevant provisions and requirements contained in the Company HSE -MS and the guidelines given to him in the Company Safety Handbook and Employees Manual. He is specifically authorised by the company to STOP any unsafe activity at his place of work regardless of who is involved in such activity.
All Company personnel are responsible to ensure they understand and complete all assigned Safety Critical Tasks attached to this job description.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for drilling operations, personnel, training, logistics and field-related purchasing.
• Responsible for all personnel assigned to the rig through the assigned rig Toolpusher.
• Checks and monitors drilling and well programs.
• Ensures that all Company Policies and Procedures are followed regarding Quality, Safety, HSE, Operations, Maintenance and Human Resources.
• Ensures that all Company, Client and subcontractor H.S.E. plans are implemented and that all audit and inspection actions are followed up.
• Monitors all material requisitions and recommends equipment and spare parts to be purchased in accordance with Company procedures.
• Monitors the supply of services and materials from service companies working directly or indirectly with the Company in the field.
• Communicates directly with client representative(s) and keeps them informed according to the terms of the contract and the needs of the Company.
• Attend 'Rig Conference Call' at PDO Well Engineering office with PDO senior and junior engineers every second day at 0700 Hours.
• Attend Well Engineering operations meeting at PDO every Saturday and Monday at 0745 Hours.
• Attend Well Engineering HSE review meeting at PDO on Wednesday at 0745 Hours if there is an HSE incident involving Company's operations.
• Make field visit to DS assigned rigs at a minimum of once a month.
• Attend DOIRC meetings at PDO Well Engineering the first Tuesday of every calender month.
• Assists in establishing rig OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Plans and recommends manpower requirements for the Rig in accordance with Company, Client and local requirements.
• Recommends and monitors training schedules for personnel with particular attention to safety and Omanisation.
• Familiar with Company and Client Emergency Procedures.
Management Skills:
• Supervises compliance of Company, Client and Statutory HSE policies and procedures.
• Provides leadership and motivation to the field staff. Develops human resources and hones management skills of staff.
• Coordinates rig and equipment maintenance programs according to Company procedures and standards.
• Assists with provision of Management Information Services in the form of weekly, monthly and other periodic reports.
• Assists with planning for future contracts and tenders.
Technical / Administrative:
• Monitors drilling and well programs.
• Revises operating procedures and updates Company technical documents and databases.
• Chairs HSE meetings in the field.
• Investigates accidents, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and near misses.
