Position Summary:
Basic Function
• Assist the Senior Toolpusher in the running of the Drilling Department and supports the Driller in the safe execution of the drilling program within the Company policy and procedures.
Supervision
• Supervises the Driller and all Drill Crew members.
Essential Job Functions:
QHSE
• Ensure all relevant safety procedures and practices are adhered to during drilling operations.
• Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to the Senior Toolpusher.
• Conduct per-tour meetings. Quality Improvement Plan program and all other Company safety management systems.
• Assist in conducting drilling operations safety drills as and when required.
• Ensure that PTW system followed when on-shift.
• Directly supervise man riding operation on the drill floor.
• Ensure a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig.
• Demonstrate commitment to the Company's safety policies through leadership and guidance.
Operations/Maintenance
• Ensures that crew members conduct Drilling Department's daily checklists, i.e. QHSE checks, mast/Derrick inspection, choke and kill manifold set up and etc.
• Ensure Drillers check space outs for Emergency disconnect procedures and understand different disconnect situations I.E (EDS 1, EDS 2, EDS 3).
• Supervises and Assist Drill Crews to maintain accurate records of tubular and tool dimensions (i.e. Component Length internal and external diameter, fish neck, and serial numbers).
• Ensure that Calculations on ton-miles on drilling line are done accurately, maintain an accurate logbook and advise the Driller on the need to slip & cut.
• Maintain an organized drilling equipment store and tubular and subs inventory.
• Ensure that daily consumables for the drilling department are used in the correct way and to ensure that stocks are maintained. (Slip Dies, Hydra Tong Dies and etc).
• Maintain proper communication with the Senior Toolpusher and other Department Heads.
• Ensures that Drillers have and follow standing instructions on a daily basis.
• Actively participate in pre-job meeting with the Drilling Crew for all drilling operations.
• Assist and relieve the Driller at the Driller's console during drilling operations.
• Assist with the preparation of equipment for impending drilling operations.
• Organize and supervise the drilling crews for all operations.
• Be present on the drill floor during drill crew shift changes.
• Ensure daily kick sheets are kept up to date for current drilling phases.
• Assist the Driller during an emergency or well control situation - assist in the well killing operations.
• Assist in supervision of Preventive Maintenance carried out on drilling equipment.
• Assist in supervision of repairs on drilling and associated equipment.
• Assist in running and cementing casing strings, running and retrieving BOPs, risers and other operations as directed by the Senior Toolpusher.
• Monitor mud systems and supervise solids control equipment and mud mixing operation.
• Ensure interaction with 3rd Party fluid supervisor to maintain correct fluid parameters with emphasis on primary well control.
• Plan Drill Crew activities during rig moves.
• Operate drilling and associated equipment to relieve Driller. (Top Drive System, Mud Pumps, BOP and Diverter Controls and etc.).
• Know the Company procedures for well control and blowout prevention.
Must be US citizen or have legal right to work in US. Must reside in US.
