Job Description:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY AND FUNCTION:

This position will be responsible for Direct and maintain quality system and certifications to assure the quality of both products and services within the organization.  Ensuring product quality through supplier contact and providing leadership in the area of inspection, statistical process control, capability studies and supplier performance management.

JOB DUTIES

QUALITY SYSTEM & CERTIFICATIONS

    • Direct and maintain quality system and its certification
    • Assure the quality of both products and services within the organization
    • Understand and facilitate International Organization for Standards (ISO 9001) activities
    • Perform all responsibilities defined for the Quality Manager in the Corporate Quality Manual
    • Ensure ISO 9001 requirements are implemented and maintained in all facilities
    • Develop, implement, and administer Quality policies & procedures for business goal/objective fulfillment for product and supplier performance
    • Stay informed of the latest Body of Knowledge of ISO Standards

PRODUCT QUALITY

    • Ensure product quality and specifications are met through internal and external processes including supplier contact as required
    • Coordinate resolution of product quality issues with Customer Service, Purchasing, and Engineering.
    • Responsible for product quality improvement and associated processes through direct contact with customers and suppliers

INSPECTION, STATISTICAL PROCESS CONTROL, CAPABILITY STUDIES & SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT

    • Provide leadership in the above areas
    • Responsible for overall PPM, Supplier Improvements and Supplier Performance Evaluations (i.e., audits), if applicable
    • Initiate action to prevent occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process and quality system
    • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system
    • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
    • Monitor the progression of corrective actions through root cause analysis
    • Verify the implementation of solutions
    • Control further processing by appropriate containment actions until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE JOB:

    • Travel to customers and suppliers is sometimes required.   Obtaining cooperation and support from individuals who report to another manager is sometimes a challenge, requiring the incumbent to utilize effective communication skills and project management techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience
    • Master's degree preferred
    • Certification or job specific education
    • 3 years supervisory experience
    • 1year management experience
