SCOPE
Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, this business development role drives sales growth opportunities in the Americas (from Canada to Latin America) with a focus on synthesis gas applications for both users and technology providers. The position is located in Houston or the Gulf Coast region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Business Development: Aggressively pursue sales growth opportunities within the markets assigned by making targeted customer visits and presentations while soliciting RFQ's.
• Distributor Relations: Train and coach distributors/sales agents in products, applications and in sales techniques as necessary. Provide them with the messaging and marketing to effectively promote our clients products and service.
• Quotation Process: Solicit and obtain all data and information required to thoroughly understand customer requirements. Partner with the client's Business Manager to prepare viable responses to RFQ's. Follow-up appropriately to maximize closing ratios.
• Market Research: Learn and understand the competition's technical and business strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities, including channels to market, and employ this understanding in guiding sales strategies and tactics.
• Product Development: Seek and propose products which can become logical product line extensions or additions to our clients existing line, which may include drafting a complete new product business plan defining the market, the sourcing and the potential profitability.
• Customer Care and Service: Must have a passion for what we do and that quality customer service is of top priority. Respect for internal and external customers, coupled with professional and ethical behavior is expected at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years of successful sales experience in industrial sales, field technical service, manufacturing or engineering of products or processes useful to the target markets of petroleum refining, petrochemical and gas processing.
• International and specific successful sales experience towards major Engineering/Procurement/Construction firms is strongly desirable.
• Exposure to or understanding of synthesis gas applications is desirable (e.g., ammonia, methanol, hydrogen). Fundamental understanding of hydrocarbon processing is essential.
• Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in chemical engineering, business administration, chemistry, other engineering disciplines or a related field.
• Superior communication skills - verbal, presentation and written - with the ability and willingness to listen. Must be able to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization and with clients.
• Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to establish and meet both immediate and mid-long term goals.
• Team-oriented with the ability to develop good rapport and strong relationships with all of our clients employees. Must be customer service minded.
• Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, creating and developing processes and procedures, with a willingness to roll up sleeves when necessary.
• Foreign language proficiency, specifically Spanish, is desirable.
• Willingness to travel 50%, including some international travel.
• Demonstrates commitment to the highest ethical and moral standards.
