 Profile Statement Nexen Petroleum U.S.A. Inc. is an oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the Gulf of Mexico, one of the most attractive hydrocarbon basins in the world. Position Overview The Nexen Investment Decision Process (NIDP) has been established and endorsed in Nexen by Executive Management to ensure maximum value from the investment in capital projects. Effective implementation of the NIDP offers proven industry best practices in achieving the desired project results, as well as providing improved predictability of project success measures. The NIDP coordination will support the project team in implementing the Nexen stage-gate process and assist with project execution planning. The prime purpose is to support the project team in providing the highest probability of achieving all planned project objectives within the planned budget and schedule. The NIDP Coordinator will assist in fully implementing the NIDP process, ensuring all NIDP deliverables are provided and supporting the peer and gate review process. This is a key role in enabling the team to meet its goals.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Steward project through the NIDP process using the project specific NIDP Implementation Key Performance Indicators (KPI); Work with the Knotty Head and Appomattox Integrated Project Teams to create the project specific NIDP roadmap, and identify, plan, and document the deliverables required for the successful completion of each stage of the NIDP; Coordinate all deliverables required for Peer and Gate Reviews, including timelines, resourcing and follow-up tracking of action items; Prepare Decision Support Packages (DSPs) for the Gate Reviews; Provide scheduling and logistic support for Peer and Gate Reviews; Produce Terms of Reference (TOR) for Peer and Gate Reviews; Provide NIDP presentations and training and coaching on the process as required; Support the Project Execution Planning (PEP) for each stage and ensure all required components are complete; Assist with the development of schedule, budget, and resource allocations for each NIDP stage; Facilitate project planning, risk management, value improvement, and lessons learned workshops.
Required Skills: Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Geosciences; 3 to 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry; Must be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures related to the oil and gas industry and have good knowledge of petroleum engineering processes and terminology, and general oil and gas production operations; Ability to interpret instructions and prioritize issues based on departmental goals in order to provide insight and recommend options to other team members; Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel (with knowledge of macros), Word, Project, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Must be proficient with Adobe and AutoCAD; Prior knowledge of SAP or Filenet is preferred; Ability to learn new applications; Must have the ability to work independently and have exceptional skills in managing multiple demands, including prioritizing and deadlines; Must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, strong communication skills (both oral and written), and professional etiquette.
