Job Description:
SWIFT is seeking an experienced Sr petrophysicist for an international energy company.    

Job description

    · This position will provide petrophysical support to Statoil's offshore exploration activities in North America supported from the Houston office
    · The qualified candidate will:

      · Support all the petrophysical needs of a number of exploration teams, providing interpretations appropriate to the business context
      · Perform integrated petrophysical interpretations that incorporates all available data, including wireline and while-drilling logs, core analysis, and formation tests, as well as geological and other related knowledge
      · Provide petrophysical support for exploration drilling programs, collaborating closely with other subsurface disciplines, operations geology, and drilling to develop and execute formation-evaluation programs that are safe and cost-effective
      · Edit and QC log, core, and formation pressure data
      · Practice good data management, focusing on data integrity and support for the entire subsurface team
      · Mentor less senior colleagues
      · Effectively utilize internal resources in the Houston petrophysics team
      · Work with specialists and advisors to complete QA and QC processes
      · Alignment and networking with other parts of Statoil are essential to ensure consistent valuation across the company. As such, the position will involve occasional travel, including overseas, for technical presentations and training


Qualifications

Required:

    · 4 year Bachelor's degree
    · 5-10+ years relevant experience in a wide range of petrophysical interpretation techniques and the integrated application of all petrophysical data types, including wireline and while-drilling logs, core analysis, and formation tests
    · 3+ years recent Oil company experience
    · A proven ability to perform rigorous, comprehensive petrophysical analyses, single-well or multi-well

Preferred:

    · Master's Degree
    · Deepwater Gulf of Mexico (GOM) experience
    · A thorough understanding of uncertainties in both data and algorithms/models is highly desirable
    · A basic understanding of the use of petrophysical results in static and dynamic earth models is highly desirable
    · Expertise in interpretation of pressure-testing measurements from wireline and while-drilling tools is highly desirable
    · Experience with use of capillary-pressure techniques for saturation-height modeling is highly desirable
    · Expertise with Geolog software is highly desirable
    · Familiarity with Techlog is a plus
    · Experience integrating petrophysics with reservoir models is a plus
