Job Description:
One of our clients, a Major International EPC Company is currently seeking a Civil Structural Engineering Manager to join their Calgary based team.

Objectives:

Principal objectives of the Civil/Structural Engineering Manager consist of but are not limited to:

To provide the direction, control, monitoring, supervision and co-ordination of the civil/structural engineering activities in support of company projects, policies and procedures to ensure high quality in all civil/structural engineering deliverables.

Duties:

    Provide safety leadership and ensure that safety is at the forefront of all engineering activities.
    Ensuring compliance with our client's management systems, policies and procedures.
    Ensuring civil/structural engineering and designing resources are sufficient to meet project plans.
    Work with project controls and project management to ensure alignment of civil/structural engineering plans and manpower.
    Intervene where required to ensure realistic plans are maintained.
    Ensure Lead Engineers are assigned and aware of engineering deliverables and schedules for all active projects.
    Promote effective communication and innovative challenge within the Civil/Structural Department in order to foster the production of safe, cost effective, fit for purpose, and constructible designs.
    Identify and determine standards that ensure a common approach to Engineering work.
    Ensure design reviews are carried out in accordance with the approved project procedures and plans.
    Where appropriate, champion initiatives aimed at developing an innovative and cost effective approach to engineering work.
    Effective networking throughout the organisation to ensure best practice utilization.
    Interfacing with other disciplines and developments.
    Orient new staff and coordinate mentoring relationships.
    Evaluate individual department staff performance and provide ongoing coaching, feedback and guidance with respect to performance and career development.
    Complete annual performance and related administration of civil/structural department staff reviews.

Qualifications:

    Minimum 15 years Oil and Gas experience or equivalent in a design environment with an engineering contractor or operator.
    Management experience would be an asset.
    Registered Professional Engineer with APEGGA.
    Diverse and broad engineering background in Oil and Gas Facilities projects.
    Demonstrates integrity and accepts responsibility.
    Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
    Proficient with use of Microsoft Office packages.
    Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication.
    Ability to interface with clients, project management and senior management with a positive "can do" attitude.
    Able to confront and resolve difficult technical issues.
    Good understanding of project management principles and procedures.
    Supervisory/Management training would be an asset.
