MGR SUPPLY PLANNING - WIRELINE RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Mgr Supply Planning - Wireline are to:

· Understand the forecasting process and its strengths and limitations. In particular this includes the likely error associated with the forecast, whether there is any trend in the actual demand versus the forecast, what specific changes are likely to arise in the market environment and the impact of competitive strategies in terms of promotions and pricing.

· Participate in the sales and operations planning process. In most organizations the Mgr Supply Planning - Wireline is responsible for conducting the pre-SOP meetings and bringing the information to the executive sales and operations planning meeting. The Mgr Supply Planning - Wireline usually presents the proposed production plan and the impact of changing scenarios on the proposed plans.

· Manage the constraints of supply capacity. The impact of supply constraints must be considered in the development of the final master production schedule and this should be evaluated using rough-cut capacity planning.

· Generate and maintain a realistic master production schedule. This means that the production and supply processes are not overloaded, and that all orders that have been promised to the customers are in accordance with the quoted lead times and time fence policies. The available-to-promise logic in a make-to-order or assemble-to-order environment will be used to quote future delivery dates to customers. The master production schedule must be realistic and achievable. The load created by the master production schedule must be less than the capacity available in all work centers that are potential constraints.

· Monitor consistency with the production plan. The sum of all the master production schedules developed within a product family must aggregate to the production plan. The Mgr Supply Planning - Wireline is responsible for ensuring that this rule is met.

· Execute master scheduling policies such as the establishment of time fences, determination of safety stock quantities, subcontracting decisions, and the setting of lot sizes.

· Identify, negotiate, and resolve conflicts between the stakeholders in the master scheduling process. These include sales and marketing, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, materials, and finance. The job of the master scheduler is to work to bring the organization to a common plan that will support the goals defined in the business plan, which were approved in the sales and operations planning process. In a dynamic world there are many day-to-day challenges, which must be addressed in order to achieve these plans. The master scheduler is the person who has the job of navigating the company to business success.


Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent. 10+ years experience in manufacturing environment, including 3+ years supervisory experience.

Good communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent problem solving skills. Knowledge of principles, concepts, theories and practices of area of responsibility.
