Role Synopsis Baker Hughes offers opportunities for qualified people who want to grow in our high performance organization. We are currently recruiting for a Buyer-Planner to join the Baker Hughes team supporting our Manufacturing Department located at our Rankin Road facility in Houston, TX. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Buyer Responsibilities: Under general supervision, places orders for varieties of materials/supplies, usually with established and/or new vendors. Interviews or contacts supplier salespersons and secures bids. Expedite the filling of orders by suppliers to meet production. Substitutes items within pre-approved guidelines. Has authority to commit company to purchases within a minimum set dollar amount as established by management. Identifies, locates and evaluates alternate sources of supply to facilitate cost competitiveness. May recommend new developments in materials and supplies and on improving quality and cost of purchases Planner Responsibilities: Maximizes production capacity by establishing, adjusting and monitoring production schedules consistent with master schedules. . Revises and reschedules orders to meet production requirement. Will place internal work orders and expedite existing orders. Responsible for production planning and working with the engineering team, management and shop operators. Handles special projects, as assigned. Basic Qualifications High School diploma 3-5 years applicable experience. Basic knowledge of production process and flow throughout the manufacturing shop. Good organization skills. Good communication skills. Good negotiation skills. Desired/Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree preferred. Strong SAP experience is highly preferred. MS Office Skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint at an Intermediate or Advanced Level. Prior experience working with engineering groups. Experience with presenting to managers or small groups on facts gather around buying and planning.
