Job Description:
Our major Oil & Gas Client is in need of a Project Management Consultant in Houston, Texas.

Background

Client has two major well projects in the US Gulf of Mexico (deepwater) that consists of deep, high pressure wells that pushes the limits of current well construction technology. The wells team  tasked to deliver these projects consist of drilling engineers, completion engineers, technologist, logistics, QA/QC, vendors and other specialist. The team works in close collaboration with subsurface and subsea projects groups dedicated to the project.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work with the wells team to support the Wells Team Lead with project management related task. The project management framework within wells is defined by the global well delivery process which needs to interface seamlessly with the Projects Opportunity & Project Management Framework. The Project Management Consultant (PMC) support will be critical to helping the Wells Team Lead to make the best business decision through professional tracking and oversight of resources, budgets, task progress, scheduling, documentation, business process and technology development.

Additional tasks may include cost estimating, document control, management of change, Joint Venture communications, data management, risk management, contract cost management, action tracking, compliance tracking, etc.

Depending on the workload tasked, the PMC may be asked to extend the support for more than one major project.

Purpose

Purpose of this opening is to have an experienced project management professional to assist the Wells Team Lead roles in Project Management of the Wells Team for the above mentioned major wells project.

Dimension

The well projects are currently in pre-concept select phase. The projects are multi-well multi-year development with a total well CAPEX in the billions of dollars. Appraisal wells are planned in 2012 and development drilling is tentatively estimated to start in 2014. The candidate will be an integral part of the wells team co-located with the wells team in Houston.

Key Challenges

    • HSE is the most critical aspect of planning and executing of projects. Ensure that HSE is considered in all activity plans for the team.
    • Managing numerous deliverables within the parallel process in the project.
    • Ensuring compliance to the governing project process and standards.
    • Delivering the project's critical success factor and timeline.

Requirements

    • B.Sc. degree from accredited university
    • 10+ years project management experience
    • Prior subsea project management experience in subsea projects will be an advantage
    • Strong technical writing skills will be an advantage
