Title: Field Service Technician

Department(s): Maintenance

Reports to: Direct to Director, Maintenance; Indirect to Area Operations

Nature of Work

The Field Service Technician is a member of the maintenance department. The incumbent works in remote locations but is attached to a regional field office. The position has management responsibilities which include customer service, training, problem solving, and identification of opportunities for improvement. This person works in all weather conditions and might be required to stay on site for several days working on a solution to a problem.

Typical Duties

    •Troubleshoots issues with equipment and develops coordination for repair of system.
    •Trains rig crews in 1st echelon of equipment repair and conducts 2nd echelons of repair with crew assistance.
    •Trains rigs in preventative maintenance, inspections and audits documentation and inspections. Coordinates and conducts
    3rd level inspection and repairs.
    •Monitors rig parts for specific equipment.
    •Provides technical support to rig via phone when applicable.
    •Familiar with entire systems including hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
    •Assists in the development and conduct of training.
    •Monitors issues, conducts root cause analysis and trend development.
    •Reports all issues and findings to area management.
    •Assists rigs in Maintenance policy/alert implementation.
    •Assists other personnel such as mechanics and electricians as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

    •Vocational training or education in hydraulics, mechanical or electronics/electrical.
    •Experience troubleshooting PLC's is a plus.
    •Knowledge of VFD's preferred but not required, will train.
    •Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and/or electrical control systems.
    •Good driving record is required to operate assigned company vehicle.
