Job Description:
|
1. BASIC FUNCTION
Supports/assists in the design of PVT programs including fluid sampling, standard characterization, EOR fluid characterization for mixtures and Hydrocarbon solids characterization (Asphaltene/sulphur/WAX PVT). Provides technical support for Managing contracting, tendering and budgeting of PVT programs. Develops Equation-of-State and implements derived EOS for initializing of compositional simulation models. Develops PVT expertise through coaching and mentoring selected UAE nationals, forming a PVT community (made up of COMPANY/OPCO PVT experts) and coordinating regular meeting to discuss PVT related issues.
2. WORK PERFORMED
a) Designs, acquires and analyzes reservoir fluid sampling program based on company objectives and standards including bottom hole sampling (open-hole/cased-hole), surface sampling during well testing and well intervention.
b) Designs and implements reservoir fluid characterization programs thought the exploration, appraisal and development phase.
c) Develops and tunes equation-of state (EOS) using measured PVT data and implements for initializing of compositional simulation models.
d) Designs enhanced oil recovery program including miscible/immiscible gas injection processes (slim tube, multi-contact, first contact, core flood experiments etc.) and thermal and/or unconventional recovery processes.
e) Supports/assists onshore/offshore to designs improved advanced laboratory oil recovery processes including water flooding, polymer flooding and emulsion flooding etc.
f) Works with offshore/onshore to design and quality check all hydrocarbon solids characterization programs to suite company requirement including: wax, asphaltene and sulphur characterization for surface facilities/pipelines.
g) Ensures best practice in commercial and Shareholder laboratory techniques to acquire best possible reservoir engineering data to validate simulation models.
h) Ensures acceptable analysis and interpretation procedures of primary, secondary and tertiary (miscible and immiscible) core flood experiments and data.
i) Provides guidance and expert advice on state-of-the-art techniques to acquire, handle reservoir fluids maximizing accuracy in hydrocarbon assessment and recovery
j) Participates in the technical review meetings and development of an integrated model for Full Field Development Plan in order to ensure that all Full Field Development Studies and Plans are frequently reviewed and meet the business objective targets as identified in COMPANY/OPCOs Business Plan and in line with COMPANY guidelines.
k) Maintains close interaction with other team members to ensure that a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary approach is followed in all reservoir engineering studies performed in COMPANY/OPCO's.
l) Establishes and maintains dialogue on all PVT related professional issues with other teams in COMPANY and OPCO's as well as with third parties (PVT laboratories, Universities, research censers) through active networking.
m) Organizes PVT Community meetings to promote the transfer of experience among the different E&P teams, and the transfer of technology from the Shareholders and the Industry, including internal and external Peer Assists and Peer Reviews.
n) Leads the communication and implementation strategy of the related COMPANY/OPCO Technical Working Systems in which the continuous improvement can be achieved sufficiently.
o) Attends leadership meetings in order to ensure awareness and provide expert advice at the highest levels of management for continuous assessment and application of technical developments in the industry.
p) Develops E&P standards for knowledge and competency in conjunction with optimum resource allocation strategy to provide a challenging and motivating learning environment for E&P/OPCO staff in alignment with business needs, technical ladders, COMPANY competency profiles, technical working systems and training programs.
q) Maintains Career Development plans of all PVT professionals and advises on their career development, in coordination with the concerned Team Leaders and Managers.
r) Performs other similar duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
a) B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent.
b) 10 years' expertise in reservoir fluid and hydrocarbon solids characterization in the petroleum industry.
c) Strong interpersonal skills, good coaching and ability to development professionals.
d) Very good knowledge of English.
