Job Summary
The Subsea Superintendent supports the subsea departments on all of the offshore rigs in assigned region. They are responsible for ensuring that all subsea related equipment is fit for purpose both physically and by regulations. They are responsible for the planning for, and execution of, equipment refurbishment and repairs in collaboration with the Corporate Subsea Support Manager.
Experience
• Minimum of 7 years in a similar role in a business of similar size and complexity.
• Bi-Lingual is preferred (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese)
• Verbal Communication skills necessary
• Ability to interact with individuals in a cross- cultural environment.
• Leadership and employee development skills.
• Team Oriented.
Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or educational equivalent from an accredited technical school, trade school, or institute preferred.
• Offshore survival and medical certificates as mandated by government regulations are required.
• Certified in all required safety training programs, including but not limited to underwater safety, fire fighting, and helicopter underwater escape.
• Must pass pre-employment and random drug screen(s).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Subsea Operations
• Monitors the daily reports from each rig within the region and provides support as required.
• Plans onshore BOP maintenance and overhauls.
• Determines subsea equipment replacement schedules; supervises replacement planning and implementation.
• Keeps management informed on new installation projects and requirements for spares on a regular basis.
Safety
• Participates in the Safety Training Observation Program (S.T.O.P) and weekly safety and operational meetings.
• Develops and implements Job Safety Analyses and prepares risk assessments as required.
• Reports all hazards and communicates ideas for enhancing safety standards.
• Performs all duties in accordance with the Permit to Work System.
General Management
• Assesses the competencies of direct reports, and works with them to enhance required competencies.
• Ensures the roles, responsibilities, authorities, accountabilities, and performance measures of direct reports are defined, understood, and enforced.
• Establishes goals and priorities with direct reports.
• Review rig maintenance performance against performance measures; establishes initiatives with the team to achieve goals and objectives.
• Develops and implements mechanisms to achieve effective communication, coordination of effort, information flow, and learning with direct reports.
• Conducts and oversees performance and salary reviews with direct reports on a timely basis.
• Ensures a high level of productivity, teamwork, and employee satisfaction within the subsea team.
• Ensures effective communication with rig management and offshore personnel.
Other
• Acts as a member of an emergency team in the event of a fire or other emergency; participates in meetings and drills as a member of an emergency team.
• Performs other duties and special projects as requested by management.

• Available and willingness to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
• Committed to a high standard of safety and will and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer's safety policies and rules. Must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
• Effective communication, team working and organizational skills. Good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent conflict resolution skills and be able to diplomatically handle confrontation.
• Exercise sound judgments and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
• Maintain flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under ambiguous guidelines.
• Maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.
• PC proficiency required. Working knowledge of current Microsoft Office software suite version.
• Perform duties onsite, except those job duties which are customarily or by their nature performed offsite (such as off-site meetings with customers at their request or for marketing purposes, making deliveries to designated destinations, traveling to field offices to meet with superiors/peers/subordinates or attend/conduct training, etc).
• Work effectively alone or as part of a team on projects.
