Job Description:
IT Manager Job Opportunity An International Oil Services company with a significant presence in Venezuela is seeking an IT Manager to take the lead in supporting its Operations, onshore and offshore. The Company is a major player in-country and has an enviable contract to deliver a highly commercial project for the Government over the next 5-7 years. The successful applicant will be offered the opportunity to shape the IT function and will work on a diverse range of exciting and challenging projects. The IT Manager will be responsible for administering and ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the Company's information systems infrastructure including servers, operating systems, desktops, printers, website, phone system and handheld devices for corporate and field end users. Major Responsibilities
  • Maintaining servers, desktop units, phone system and critical applications in stable running order; troubleshooting software, desktop and network problems and devising business solutions; overseeing hardware and software deployment; ensuring network, desktop, and phone system functionality and outages are fixed; assuring the disaster recovery of information systems; maintaining business data links between software applications; maintaining user account information; and performing security items as assigned
  • Planning and scheduling required maintenance and resources to maintain an efficient network operation; upgrading current software and hardware when necessary; prepares activity reports by collecting, summarizing, analyzing, and quantifying information; planning and maintaining processes and procedures to meet network, desktop and user requirements; and protecting the security of the network as prescribed by the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the efficiency of software/hardware usage; adding and maintaining users on the network; installing new software applications or hardware on the network, desktop and mobile devices; monitoring and reporting licenses on applications, servers, desktops, and other equipment to ensure compliance; ensuring all network and desktop patches are applied and functioning without conflict; monitoring load balance on servers
  • Managing interpersonal relationships in a positive and effective manner; accomplishing positive results through cooperative efforts with all departments; and contributing to the achievement of an ethical work environment.
  • Assisting with purchasing and of IT related equipment and services
  • Liaison with outside consultants, vendors and service providers
  • Team up with IT or other corporate personnel when needed.
  • Providing or coordinating user orientation on hardware, software, or mobile device operations

Qualifications & Experience
    • Experience in the Oil and Energy industry • Fluency in English and Spanish • At least five years relevant experience in information technology support and administration. • Strong experience with troubleshooting software and hardware on laptops, desktops, servers, networking equipment, and handheld equipment. • Knowledge of Windows 2008 Server R2. • Knowledge and experience with virtual VMWare environments. • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite of products • Fair knowledge of active directory, DHCP, WINS, DNS • Fair knowledge of the NS5 system, or, strong knowledge and experience supporting a maintenance, inventory and purchasing application or an ERP system including the modules mentioned. • Fair knowledge of satellite communications channels. • Extremely strong organisational skills. • Highly professional demeanor. • High degree of personal integrity and honesty. • Excellent customer service and communication skills. • Ability to work independently.
