Job Description:
The Supplier Quality Engineer communicates quality and performance requirements and expectations clearly to supply base. Validates supplier production processes prior to production or at initial run-off.  Ensures suppliers are able to provide Detailed Quality Plans, working towards standardization.  Leads continuous process improvement teams at the Houston campus as well as at supplier locations.  Mentors cross-functional teams in the application of methodical problem solving processes at the Houston campus as well as at supplier locations.

Develops, maintains, and effectively communicates Supplier metrics, both internally and to supply base.  Quantifies, consolidates, and analyzes Supplier data and metrics. Leads local and corporate efforts in addressing reactive supplier quality issues as well as leading proactive supplier performance improvement initiatives. Leads supplier quality performance improvement efforts via the prescribed NCR, CAR, and standard audit processes. Supports and improves the NCR, CAR, PAR, Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty Assessment and customer complaint processes. Conducts supplier quality audits, systems, process, and product.  Assists quality department with internal audits. Ensures the independent product and component inspection function is in accordance with industry standards, regulatory statutes, and customer requirements. Reviews, approves and provides comment on specifications, drawings, plans and procedures. Prepares and troubleshoots nonconforming manufacturing and test documentation.

Travels => 50% of the time to effectively audit, mentor, train, and develop supplier capabilities in a hands-on fashion.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.  Six Sigma or other advanced quality training a plus.  Minimum five (5) years quality related experience in manufacturing, design, quality or supply chain.  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.  Knowledge of MiniTab a plus.  Must be knowledgeable in metal fabrication, machining, ISO 90001:2000, quality audits, metrological instruments, inspection processes, SPC, TQM, document control, process change, and change leadership.  Must be able to travel => 50% of the time.
