JOB TITLE: Sr. Geologist
REPORTS TO: Exploitation Manager
DIVISION: Permian Basin

Description

Company is a leader in the exploration and development of shale-based oil and natural gas resources in the U.S., with properties concentrated primarily in the Haynesville Shale and Lower Bossier Shale of Northwest Louisiana and East Texas, the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas and the Permian Basin of West Texas.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you will primarily be responsible for:

As an experienced, proven professional handles complex geological assignments. Able to modify technical guidelines. Level makes independent decisions that are typically not subject to technical review. May serve as a project leader on assignments requiring a broad knowledge of geology.

    • Interprets and evaluates subsurface geologic data to construct integrated maps, cross sections, and other geologic displays defining subsurface structure, reservoir geometries, net sand and pay, hydrocarbon pore volume and other essential economically significant interpretations.
    • Obtains, manipulates, and interprets computer databases and mapping programs consistent with established company mapping standards.
    • Obtains and interprets well log correlation and interpretation, petro physical analysis, interpretation of seismic data, field specific geologic interpretation of known producing traps and trap types, structure and producing intervals to define drilling, recompletion, and workover economic objectives.
    • Supervises and performs on-site open hole well-site geologic evaluations.
    • Coordinates open-hole evaluation tools and service company vendors.
    • Assesses the potential and economic viability of external generated proposals for the company.
    • Presents geologic work to obtain external capital resources.
    • Geologist V is an experienced, proven professional, and handles complex geological assignments.
    • Assist in training junior level Geologist. Level is viewed as qualified, fully competent professional.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, you must possess:

    • Preferred concentration in the Permian Basin and shale experience
    • Minimum 12 years experience.
    • High-level proficiency with onsite open hole evaluation and problem solving.
    • Working knowledge and some practical experience of the role and job responsibilities of Reservoir and Operation Engineers, Landmen, and other company professionals in order to accomplish team goals.
    • Ability to integrate and synthesize geologic interpretations to generate economically justified investment opportunities for the company.
    • Ability to accurately solve problems.
    • Ability to make valuable contribution to team goals and objectives.
    • BS or MS Degree in Geology.
    • Ability to lift 25 pounds
