he Product Engineering Manager

Coordinate, plan, organize, a direct the efforts required for Product support and the products support engineering team. Reporting directly to this position are appropriate Product Engineers, and Design Engineers. This position works closely providing direction of Design Drafting, Development, and Documentation personnel, Supervisor of Testing.

Responsibilities also include: product design, compilation and maintenance of engineering design files, engineering drawings, technical specifications, assembly procedures, test procedures, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and technical reports. This professional will also present presentations and support both internal and external customers in an effort to enhance the quality and strength of valves business.

Key Accountabilities (includes, but not limited to the following)

    • Provide product support to the sales, manufacturing, quality and other departments to meet demands in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Apply API (American Petroleum Institute) ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineering) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) procedures and standards to manage the design and manufacturing of specialized control valves for energy industry offshore and subsea applications.
    • Oversee design improvement, customer support and production support for products that include shuttle valves, selector, valves, relief valves, solenoid valves and regulators using concepts of 3-D modeling, mechanics of materials, tribology, static and dynamic analysis, fluid mechanics and test validation and analysis.
    • Use Critical Path Analysis and PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Techniques) management methodologies to initiate programs; meet goals within budget and scheduling constraints; cooperate with patent counsel to obtain patent protection for company processes and procedures; coordinate engineering change activities with sales, manufacturing, material control and other company departments; recruit, motivate, supervise and oversee career development for engineering personnel.
    • Provide direction to the areas of design improvement, customer support, and production support for primarily released products and technology.
    • Maintain a log of Engineering assistance requests and uses staff resources to obtain resolution: appropriate engineering responses, answers or information.
    • Develop and maintain an effective organization through selection, evaluation, development, compensation, placement, and motivation of all product engineering personnel.
    • Develop managerial talent and other talents necessary to achieve short and long range objectives by effective direction, counseling, and training to an overall manpower plan.
    • Coordinate engineering activities with Sales, Manufacturing, Material Control, and other appropriate Departments in GVC.
    • Direct subordinates in the execution of their assigned responsibilities to ensure that their approach to meeting objectives and attaining satisfactory performance is consistent with established practices and procedures.
    • Confer with and assists staff personnel on day-to-day problems and procedures.
    • Prepares and makes technical presentations to appropriate customer groups.

Key Requirements

Education

Bachelors or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is a must.

Experience

    • Fifteen plus years design engineering experience of industrial control valves within the oil and gas industry is a must.
    • Ten plus years experience designing new industrial valves within an New Product Development (NPD) environment..
    • At least eight years of product management experience within an industrial valve design and manufacturing environment of the oil and gas industry is a must.
    • Proven success with at least three patents obtained within the engineering design of valves is a requirement.
    • Minimum of eight years supervisory experience of an engineering team is a must.
    • Minimum of ten years control valve and pressure regulator sustainability / maintainability engineering experience is required.
    • At list three years of direct and successful customer interaction and key account management.
    • Four plus years custom industrial valve design for the oil and gas industry required.
    • At least ten years 3-D modeling, mechanics of materials, tribology, static and dynamic analysis, fluid mechanics and test validation and analysis experience required. SoildWorks or Pro/E preferred. FEA preferred.
    • Must have significant knowledge in API, ASME and ISO procedures and proven success in adapting those standards in the design and manufacturing of control valves within oil and gas offshore and subsea applications.
    • Proven ability to meet customer requests within quality standards, on time and within budget.
    • Regulator design experience highly preferred.
    • At least five years designing metal seals or steel seals is required.
    • Experiment and equipment testing experience.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Results oriented with good project management, organizational, prioritization, and team-based skills.
