Description

This position will have primary responsibility for the mechanical systems. Major mechanical elements include:

    • Fabrications including skids, structural elements, piping.
    • Electric motor driven pumps, blowers, air compressors.
    • Tanks, Vessels, Piping, Valves
    • Heat Exchangers
    • Boiler

The system utilizes a mechanical vapor recompression cycle that pulls in water to be treated, boils it, compresses it, and separates it. The cycle utilizes a number of motor driven devices, heat exchangers, and sub-systems to heat, cool, and transfer the fluids at various stages.

Qualifications/Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from accredited program strongly preferred.
    • 5 to 10 years experience in electro-mechanical and industrial process systems as described above.
    • Experience with rotating equipment, heat exchangers, piping, instruments.
    • General knowledge of power systems.
    • Experience with 3rd party engineering contractors.
    • Proven leadership experience.
    • Familiarity with Instrumentation & Controls systems.
    • Project management; especially working with 3rd party suppliers and fabricators.
    • Ability to travel.

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assess current gaps and recommend future direction for pumps, piping, heat exchangers, fabrications.
    • Develop mechanical training guides for operating & troubleshooting the mechanical equipment.
    • Insure that our engineering (current and future) is fully documented.
    • Identify and direct internal (new hires) and external (3rd party) engineering resources required.
    • Internal: technologists, engineers, programmers, graphic designers
    • External: supplier resources, 3rd party contractors.
    • Develop a full understanding of total process; flow and conditions at each stage of the process.
    • Perform heat balance, thermo as related to steam cycle, heat exchanger fundamentals to reduce power consumption, recover heat, and guide vendor efforts
    • Develop understanding of erosion and corrosion to guide selection of materials, management of galvanic corrosion.
    • Mechanical equipment selection, testing, troubleshooting
    • Pumps, blowers, piping, tanks, filters, generator sets, heat exchangers boilers / fluid heater
    • Structural design analysis and recommended changes to lower cost: skid fabrication
    • Lead coordination and design of a smaller, more portable pod (skid/trailer/mounted)
