Our client, a major specialty chemical company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for personal technical development in a detail oriented role. They are seeking an individual with experience in engineering design and implementation of unique / custom, in-house designed manufacturing equipment. You will partner with their technology expert and lead the advancement of the company's equipment installation supporting their growth initiatives in the Asia and Americas markets.
This role will be part of the Corporate Engineering team located in Wilmington, DE. The Corporate Engineering team provides a global engineering consultancy service to manufacturing sites, operations, and capital projects.
This position has a high level of autonomy and requires a self starter with a proactive approach to identify and complete critical tasks. You should have the ability to take on a leadership role and work effectively with customers and vendors from several global locations as well as our internal organization. You will have strong mechanical aptitude, organization, prioritization skills, and planning skills (able to handle multiple projects simultaneously), and the ability to effectively communicate complex or technical issues with business leadership.
Responsibilities:
This position will offer the opportunity to expand your background in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on detailed equipment installation and project management. You will work on cross functional project teams and be involved in the design, fabrication and engineering of custom manufacturing equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Development of equipment concepts working from parameters provided in the Technical Basis.
* Develop scopes, plans, estimates, and specifications
* Plan and schedule fabrication, shipping, receiving, storage, assembly, erection, and checkout of mechanical equipment.
* Qualify suppliers to fabricate equipment according to required specifications. Search for new suppliers that may have skills in areas that can reduce cost.
* Support construction in planning, scheduling and supervising installation activities.
* Ensure technical functioning capability of all equipment prior to energizing equipment and feed systems.
* Check out mechanical equipment according to detailed procedures.
* Train operators and maintenance personnel to understand procedures for the mechanical equipment.
* Facilitate inspection and troubleshooting with Operations including quality assurance of custom fabricated parts.
Experience and Skills Required:
* Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
* 5+ years experience in mechanical engineering field (unique or customer created machine design)
* Experience interpreting mechanical design standards
* Ability to travel 25-50%, including international travel
Experience and Skills Preferred:
* 5+ years experience working in capital projects with a corporation or an owner company.
