Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Reservoir Engineer supports the company's exploration efforts through the evaluation of new plays and acquisition opportunities. Work includes project scoping & feasibility studies, identification of commerciality drivers and the design of test plans to address these drivers. The Engineer has petroleum property evaluation experience along with extensive experience evaluating tight, low permeability reservoirs including shale, siltstones and carbonates. The Engineer requires minimal supervision while functioning as a critical member in a multi-disciplinary team and possesses the initiative and work ethic to create value. Effective verbal and communication skills and the ability to network with others and make presentations to senior management are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    •Performs reservoir evaluations to support exploration play models and acquisition opportunities.
    •Integrates well performance, pressure transient analysis, material balance, volumetric, decline curve, and play analogs analyses in the evaluation.
    •Documents evaluation results in an organized manner and supports recommendations with detailed economic analysis and recommendations. Exploration project evaluations include probabilistic analyses.
    •Is resourceful, creative and able to retrieve information using tools such as CERA-IHS, Drilling Info, as well as publically available sources.
    •Forecasts capital and production volumes for project feasibility and makes comparative analysis with other exploration and acquisition opportunities.
    •Coordinates project development and implementation with geo-science, drilling, production, and land professionals as a multi-functional team, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
    •Utilizes best practices for core retrieval, sampling and analysis techniques, with good understanding of horizontal well stimulation and completion techniques.
    •Utilizes pressure transient analysis techniques and software

    •Prioritize projects and work in a high pressure environment.

Details Specific to this Job:

PREREQUISITES

    •Engineering degree with minimum 7 years of reservoir engineering experience, including North American basins. Prefer experience working with tight oil plays.
    •Experience in: completion operations, drilling and facilities (including pipelines), assessing resource plays, project management, field supervision, log analysis, and project cost estimation
    •Petroleum property evaluation experience along with extensive experience evaluating tight, low permeability reservoirs including shale, siltstones and carbonates.
    •Demonstrated thorough understanding of rock, fluid and stimulation mechanics as they relate to resource plays.
    •Demonstrated ability to identify the key risks of a new resource plays, and to work with Operations to prepare plans to address these risks.
    •Demonstrated software expertise: Economic analysis software, Microsoft Office Suite (strong Excel and PowerPoint skills), Power tools, Fekete RTA software, Spotfire, MS Access DB skills, working and designing pivot tables. Strong data retrieval and data manipulation skills.
    •Basic understanding of statistics and their application in resource characterization
    •Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision
    •Strong networking and written/verbal communication skills
    •Comfortable making presentations to Sr. Management
    •Collaborative, egoless, but able to get results
    •Ability to travel as required
