Our Client: is a global leader in fertilizer manufacturing and distribution, the second largest nitrogen fertilizer producer in the world and the third largest phosphate fertilizer producer among public companies. The Company owns and operates world-scale nitrogen and phosphate plants and serves agricultural and industrial customers through its best-in-class distribution system.
Position Description:
The Process Engineer is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operations and for recommending changes for improvement. The Process Engineer is expected to identify opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and direct the implementation of change. The Process Engineer has a direct impact upon operational success by assisting in process optimization, assuring safety and environmental compliance and by removing bottlenecks to achieve higher efficiencies.
Duties:
Insures the process is operated in a safe and environmentally compliant manner and endeavors to enhance and protect the safety of plant employees.
Recommends any operating adjustments via instrumentation, equipment, or chemical additions required to maintain specifications while optimizing the processes.
Identifies problems and recommends solutions, especially geared toward reducing costs and increasing production capability. This includes implementing an idea from the concept stage through design and procurement, installation and start up.
Monitors key operating parameters to identify trends and to recommend changes. This includes maintaining Turbine and Compressor Efficiencies, Cooling Water Surveys, Catalyst Surveys, DCS trends, and laboratory results.
Coordinates assigned Process Safety Management related activities:
Initiates and follows up on all Management Of Change submittals.
Develops and organizes Process Safety Information.
Lead all departmental Process Hazard Analyses.
Develops Safe Operating Limits and Standard Operating Conditions within published guidelines for process changes.
Assists in training operators, especially on process changes.
Position Requirements:
BS in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical
3-5 years experience in a processing plant
Proficient in basic computer software such as Windows, Excel, Word, TabWare, Microsoft Outlook. Additional proficiency is preferable in network functions, using the Internet, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD
Expected to effectively communicate with outside vendors and contractors
Knowledgeable in the plant processes, plant specifications, and materials of construction
