Project Overview:
Currently our Global Drilling and Completions group is looking for a Vice President of New Ventures
Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility is to determine the feasibility of the D&C component of New Ventures. Utilizing the PDSW process ensure that Business Development or Exploration groups identify the key subsurface objectives and see the project through the select stage to assess viability of the project plan. Assure adequate engineering is complete and cost estimates reflect appropriate contingency for risks. Initiate contracting and long lead requirements if required before the in country D&C Execution team is in place.
- Secondary responsibility is to support the SVP, Global Drilling and Completions (GDC) in implementation of the GDC framework and key processes. As the second most senior member of GDC lead and implement as requested key special projects or provide support for requests from the business units for expertise or reviews of D&C problems.
- As one of several senior level managers within D&C, lead steering team efforts within GDC and also represent SVP in communicating with EVP's, SVP's, and Country Managers. Able to meet with any TLM senior manager to assist in implementing any of the six key focus areas for HSE, People Management, Standards and Processes, Technology, Supplier Management, and Performance Management. Advise the SVP on priorities and effective implementation of best practices as well as assist in oversight of operations in critical wells via the Real Time Operations Center (RTOC).
Qualifications:
- Should have 20 to 25 years of Drilling and Completion experience, multi basin international field experience is essential as well as a strong network and positive reputation with drilling contractors and service companies. Some offshore experience highly desired, DW skills sets are uniquely valued.
- A senior technical professional, educated to degree level, with no restrictions on international travel. Should have had experience with the international challenges of working in remote locations, both in an office and in the field environment.

The VP New Ventures is also expected to:
- Be able to communicate at all levels both within Talisman and external to the company.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize risks and effectively present to Talisman Senior Management.
- Prioritise a dynamic workload and oversee multiple teams in international locations.
- Work independently from the SVP GDC and also stand in to maintain continuity.
- Convey a strong drive for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
