REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
DIVISION: North America Division
DEPARTMENT Finance
LOCATION: Houston, Park 10 Office
BASIC FUNCTION: Perform or coordinate all finance functions in relation to assigned cost centers. In conjunction with Operations personnel prepare assigned cost centers annual budget and quarterly forecast and review for reasonableness and accuracy. Apply the principles of accounting in order to prepare and analyze financial information for assigned companies and cost centers.
DUTIES:
AUTHORITY
This position will be assigned a number of cost centers which could be offshore drilling rigs or onshore office installations. The successful candidate will be required to perform the following duties for these cost centers.
1. Assist operations personnel or department managers in various financial and accounting matters.

Responsible for collation, input and review of forecast and budget information submitted by operations and marketing.

Prepare and coordinate the recognition of monthly journal vouchers in order to accurately report financial information in a matter that is in compliance with the company's accounting policies and procedures.

Thoroughly review and understand the assigned cost center's external contracts and based on contract terms prepare revenue and other third party invoices.

Analyze monthly financial information in order to prepare and document the review of the required financial reports such as revenue summary, income statement budget variance reports, and various reports of balance sheet accounts.

Liaise with operations personnel and customers to ensure the timely submission of invoices and related receipt of payment.

Assist marketing in the preparation of bids, contract letter agreements and revenue escalations.
In conjunction with another Rig Accountant, coordinate, assign and review the work of an Accounting Assistant.

Assist with special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
DEFINITION OF AUTHORITY
Authority I To act.
Authority II To act but inform the person to whom he reports to and other interested parties.
Authority III To consult before acting.
EDUCATION:
- Accounting or finance degree with equivalent accounting hours.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of three years professional experience. Preference for two years of accounting related experience engaged in business lines similar to those of the company. CPA or CA (or equivalent) designation is preferred.
SKILLS:
- Proficient with personal computers, word processing, spreadsheet and database software. PeopleSoft 8.8 and EMPAC experience preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong interpersonal skills (written and oral); ability to manage multiple tasks; ability to work in team environment; ability to work under deadline conditions.
SUPERVISION
- Shared responsibility of the coordination of the duties of the Accounting Assistant with another Rig Accountant. One of the two Rig Accountants will be assigned the direct supervision and the responsibility of reviewing the Accounting Assistant's performance.
