Our client is a global provider of services for managing risk. The company comprises 300 offices in 100 countries, with approximately 9,000 employees.
Their maritime District Gulf of Mexico is looking for Approval Engineers to join their team in the Houston Approval Center. This center is the main Classification Approval Center for the Americas and the hub for engineering resources in various disciplines supporting the Region. Due to expansion, the company is looking for qualified MOU/CMC/SHIP Plan Approval Engineers cum Surveyors in our Houston, Texas office.
Major Duties:
Design verification of drilling equipment and systems
Participation in Risk Assessment activities such as HAZID / HAZOP / FMECA workshops
Some physical survey of construction, repair and modification of such equipment is required (travel will be limited)
Requirements:
-BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (aerospace, ocean engineering, petroleum, etc.)
-Minimum of five (5) years experience in the design of semi-submersible drilling rig equipment and systems.
-Thorough knowledge regarding design of well control systems, heave compensation and tensioning systems, hoisting and rotating systems, BOP and pipe handling systems, etc.
-Manufacturing experience and/or operational support of drilling rig systems and equipment is preferred.
-Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API 6A / 7K / 8C / 16A / 16C / 16F, etc)
-Have a good understanding of FEA, as well as FEA analysis tools.
