Job Description:
|
•Responsible for providing and explaining a management tool for estimating project activity times, sequencing those activities to optimize the guidance of a project through its life span from concept to product transfer, and using appropriate software and related techniques to do so.
•Create project plans that identify team members, deliverables, time lines, strategies and objectives. By developing and updating the project plan, project planners promote consistency across the entire project and maintain constant communication with team members regarding status, delivery dates and potential risks. These professionals often act as team leaders and serve as the liaison between different project groups and project stakeholders. Other duties assigned to project planners include analyzing project expenditures and budgets, sending out progress reports to team members, reviewing and administering contracts and alerting management about issues or problems that may hinder project completion.
Main Duties:
•Produce comprehensive schedules in various formats and detail to suit different users or audiences Interface the schedule with the project budget.
•Analyze validity of schedules submitted by outside parties contributing to the project.
•Monitor actual job progress, compare to baseline and report progress against schedule.
•Analyze and report productivity and trends.
•Forecast the impacts on schedule of proposed changes.
•Recommend policy or procedural revisions that will improve schedule accomplishment.
•Attend management, project team and customer meetings as requested by the project manager.
•Assist management, project managers and colleagues to understand and accept scheduling concepts, theory and alternative approaches in scheduling project activities.
•Archive actual schedule achievements for estimating future similar projects.
Required Skills:
•Detail oriented, highly organized with excellent communication skills.
•Excellent project management and multi-tasking skills are needed in a project planner role.
•Interact frequently with different levels and professionals within an organization
•Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication abilities are prized by employers.
•Other basic qualifications that are beneficial include knowledge of project management, word processing, presentation, email and spreadsheet software; and the ability to analyze, compile and distribute large amounts of data.
