One of WTS Energy's clients is currently interviewing qualified candidates for the role of Senior Drilling Engineer for their offices in Houston. The client is an independent oil and gas company with a diversified portfolio of production, development and exploration assets. This position comes with an excellent package including Options.
The Senior Drilling Engineer is responsible for the Design, engineering and planning of exploration and development wells to be drilled internationally onshore and offshore in Africa and the Middle East.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design, engineer and plan wells to deliver the agreed well objectives.
- Generate drilling time and cost estimates for budgets and AFE's.
- Work with Supply Chain Management to develop tenders for drilling equipment and service contracts including evaluation and recommendations.
- Manage drilling and 3rd party service contracts, ensuring effective delivery of services within time and budget ensuring all HSEQ regulations are adhered to.
- Monitor drilling operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with well designs and work programs.
- Provide engineering and operational advice to office and field personnel as necessary.
- Trouble shoot and provide professional advice to resolve drilling operational and technical problems for active drilling operations. This may involve travel as and when required to all countries within remit.
- Propose and implement new technologies/procedures for improved performance.
- Prepare written and verbal reports and presentations to senior management regarding operational activities.
- Involved in JV technical meetings, ensuring company's interests in areas of health and safety, efficiency, contractual obligation, cost and technical excellence are adhered to.
- Preparation and oversight of well costs and budgets.
Qualifications:
1. Engineering degree or equivalent.
2. Minimum 10+ years of experience with an operator (onshore and offshore) covering drilling, completions and intervention.
3. Ability to work under pressure and to tight time deadlines.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Pragmatic self-starter who can work independently and in a team environment.
6. Willingness to travel as required on business assignments.
7. Ability to communicate in both the corporate and wellsite environments.
8. Previous West African and middle East experience will be seen as a major advantage.
9. Exposure to fractured carbonates and/or H2S environment useful.
10. Strong desire to deliver technical excellence.
