COMPLETIONS ENGINEER

We currently deal with established Oil and Gas companies, Civil Engineering and Build contractors

My Major Producer is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Completions Engineer for their office in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada.

You will be part of a team of Completions Engineers responsible for designing and executing all aspects of offshore subsea completions and work-over programs

In this role, you will report directly to the Lead Completions Engineer and provide shorebase engineering support to completion operations as well as supervise completion equipment installation at the field location with a multi-service supplier team.

This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your engineering experience and technical expertise by:

    • Developing well specific completion and work-over programs for submission to Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (CNLOPB) to meet the well objectives
    • Interfacing and directing third party Contractors in the development of detailed operations programs
    • Liaising with Geological and Geophysical team members to ensure the efficient planning of wells
    • Analyzing and making recommendations on the appropriate use of existing technologies to enhance completion operations and cost efficiencies
    • Keeping abreast of technological advances and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Assisting with the technical and commercial review of vendor proposals to ensure the most technically sound and cost effective methods are employed to complete wells
    • Developing time and cost estimates for completion and workover programs
    • Performing tubular stress analysis for each completion
    • Monitoring Completions and Work-over performance costs
    • Assisting accounting staff in the administration of invoicing and cost control for ongoing operations
    • Finalizing End of Well Reports for Submission to CNLOPB
    • Attending completion meetings, completing post analysis reviews and developing educational tools and materials to ensure the lessons learned are captured and communicated within the Business Unit and to the Service Companies
    • Interacting with service companies and coordinating detailed programs and end of well reports
    • Participating on the Emergency Response Team, as assigned, which may include the requirement to carry a pager/cell phone and be on call
    • Working offshore in support of completion program execution for a period of up to 21 days, as required

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications...

    • An undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline
    • A registered Professional Engineer and eligible for membership with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL )
    • A minimum of 5 years' completions experience, coupled with 3 years of offshore experience
    • Experience that includes exposure to an offshore and/or harsh weather subsea development environment would be an asset
    • Extensive knowledge and expertise in well construction design and operations
    • Ideally, a good working knowledge of:

      o Tubular Stress Analysis
      o Torque/drag
      o Well cost reporting and AFE generation
      o Group Loading processes
      o Regulatory guidelines
      o Completion Operations
      o Slickline Operations
      o Welltesting
      o Tubing Conveyed Perforating
      o Subsea Horizontal Xmas trees
      o Subsea Systems
      o Subsea Well Interventions
      o High rate large bore wells (>12,000 bopb)
      o Wireline in highly deviated wells

    • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office.  Experience using Wellcat software would be an asset
    • Strong analytical and problem identification skills combined with the ability to recommend practical solutions
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
    • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team, and with others outside of the formal organization to achieve goals (e.g. service providers, vendors, contractors)
    • A valid driver's license
    • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
    • Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S Alive)
    • Intervention Well Control

Medical (Physical) Requirements/Standards:

    • Required to occasionally travel/work offshore, therefore you must obtain and maintain medical clearance as well as the necessary training.
