 Oceaneering is a global oilfield provider of engineered services and products primarily to the offshore oil and gas industry, with a focus on deepwater applications. Through the use of its applied technology expertise, Oceaneering also serves the defense and aerospace industries. Oceaneering's business offerings include remotely operated vehicles, built-to-order specialty subsea hardware, deepwater intervention and manned diving services, non-destructive testing and inspections, mobile offshore production systems, and engineering and project management.
Develop and maintain custom application software in the ocean engineering field using object-oriented development, structured design methods and structured programming techniques. Schedules can be demanding throughout the year and work outside normal working hours from time to time should be anticipated. Work shall be performed at the assigned office, unless directed otherwise. Travel away from the home office may be required. Fitness for special background investigation (SBI) is required.
Education
- Requires a BS degree in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or related technical field, or, for the non-degreed individual, 3-5 years direct experience in software development in a scientific or technical field.
Experience-
- Five or more years programming experience with personal computers using a high-level language such as C/C++ or C# in Windows (2000, NT or XP) is required.-
- Development experience with Linux is beneficial.
- Experience with database programming, specifically SQL and PL/SQL with SQL Server, Oracle and/or Access is desirable.
- Experience with other programming environments/languages such as .NET, C#, Delphi/C++ Builder or Visual Basic is an advantage.
- Experience in the field of ocean engineering is not strictly necessary but some experience is a distinct advantage.
- Programming with GIS tools is a distinct advantage, especially with the ESRI ArcGIS and/or ArcObjects or Intergraph's GeoMedia suite.
- Embedded system design / development is not necessary, but experience is an advantage especially with Microchip PIC microprocessors.
Knowledge-
-Use of PC software including word processing (Microsoft Word),spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), , and presentation applications (Microsoft PowerPoint) software is required.
