 Senior Design Engineer
Houston, Texas
Packers Plus is the pioneer of open hole, multi-stage horizontal fracturing and we provide technology-based solutions to the oil and gas industry around the world. We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer in our Houston, Texas office.
Primary Role
The position will be accountable for the entire process of conceptualizing and designing innovative tools based on client requests. In addition to the design aspect of the job the Design Engineer will be responsible for overseeing both shop testing and initial field prototype testing of all equipment they design. Design projects will focus almost exclusively on new product development with very little in the way of sustaining engineering.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Conceptualize and design downhole equipment based on client requirements
• Perform both shop testing and field run of prototypes
• Create user guidelines and technical assistance packages for all newly developed tools
• Provide technical guidance to shop hands for the purpose of assembling newly designed tools
• Gain knowledge to be Product Champion in specified area
• Quality control and testing of all new tools.
Educational, Physical and Safety Requirements
• An Engineering/Technical degree/diploma in Mechanical, Petroleum, or Civil Engineering discipline
Competencies, Skills and Experience
• Possess a strong mechanical aptitude
• Experience working with 3D modeling software (i.e. SolidWorks or Pro-E)
• Ability to evaluate FEA output, but not required to perform FEA analysis
• 10+ years of downhole experience within industry - field and/or shop experience
• Familiarity with manufacturing and QA processes
• Ability to work well in both team and solo environments
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
