The Role:
The Senior Safety and Risk Engineer will be part of the Client team working alongside the contractor during the FEED, Detailed design, fabrication and construction phases. The position will report directly to the Engineering Manager during the FEED phase.
During FEED, the Senior Safety and Risk Engineer will be located overseas, in the first instance in Houston, however, with the potential for further relocation and maintain a broad overview of the health, safety & risk workscope and ensure contractor guidance and input is provided at all times in all aspects of health, safety & risk workscope. The role will involve some international travel principally to Europe and the maintenance of relationships with overseas stakeholders on a continuous basis.
The role will involve:
• Assurance of the Safety & Risk engineering component of the FEED Contract for the delivery of the Project to quality and schedule criteria.
The objective of Safety & Risk engineering is to work ahead of the design to ensure that the design is inherently safe. This will mean that key parts of the FSA deliverables such as fire and explosion analysis, explosion overpressure modelling, ESSA, EERA & TRIA will need to be done early in the FEED ahead of layout freeze. The role includes
o Technical surveillance of the FEED contractor's engineering including review and approval of key engineering deliverables
o Review of technical bid evaluations for procured items
o Monitoring of FEED contractor progress against approved Safety & Risk CTRs
• Custodian of the Safety & Risk engineering section of the Basis of Design and other Safety & Risk deliverables from the BOD phase.
• Management of project design risk and technical change control against the BOD phase Safety & Risk deliverables;
• Management of Safety & Risk engineering interfaces between FEED contractor and other project groups
• Health, safety & risk discipline coordination within the topside team.
• Resolution of key technical issues and interface issues relating to the Topsides, substructure and MPDR.
• Monitor FEED contractor progress against approved CTR's and schedule and suggest corrective action in the case of slippage.
• Attend design reviews and VIP's and ensure the objectives are achieved.
• Ensure Client's long term topsides technical objectives and standards for topsides are considered, understood and incorporated within the FEED.
• Participate in the technical evaluation of tender documents.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree qualified Engineer with greater than 10 years experience in the offshore oil and gas industry with broad experience in multi discipline facilities engineering covering oil & gas process and utility systems. Applicant should have experience across FEED, detailed design and construction / execution as well as the scoping and technical management of work to third parties and integration with Company procedures.
• Experience with topsides configuration and equipment layout, including mechanical handling aspects and understanding the key drivers for a safe design.
• A broad understanding of the operational and maintenance practices for topsides systems.
• Understanding of the key drivers for offshore topside design

• Increase HSE awareness, support and encourage a positive HSE culture;
• Contributes to the implementation and improvement of effective HSE management systems for both Client and Contractor organizations;
